Walmart is great for a lot of crap (not clothes, eck).. But for pball, its just a disaster waiting to happen.
Whats wrong with Wal Mart clothes? I buy walmart clothes quite a bit. Hmmm I can get some jeans that are labeled Levi for 50 bucks or I can get the same damn ones for 14.99 at walmart. Having an unemployed father, I need to save money.
ya but if u buy a pair of levi's at a store you know your getting good quality thats going to last for a long time, compared to getting a pair of some knock off brand that only lasts a few months at most. iv gotten pants and shirts from there and the seams always come undone and rip. unlike levi's

so what, you actually think ****ty clothes that you will only find at walmart and places of the like will last longer than name brand clothes huh, wrong. name brand clothes are made with a much better quality than walmart clothes
Alpha im w/ you the only things paintball wise Wal mart should sell is pods and stuff along those lines Spair air is total junk never used it but have seen it used piece of crap its a rip off and the paint yea it might b prems and marbs but who knows how long theyve been their which reminds next time i go there i'll put a mark on one of the boxes and see how long that box stays there
And if a Noob went to a real proshop there would b knowledgible ppl there to help the kids understand wat they are buying and crap thats my 2 cents
Oddly enough my local Walmart has started carrying 4x140 round harnesses (VL brand unfortunatelly) and Big Ball paint, one of my favorite paints. They seem to be getting slightly better in their selection for some reason. Either, The sky is falling, the sky is falling or it might just be that we are getting closer to the busy paintball season.

at least those employees have jobs and arent sitting on there butts collecting welfare.
Amen to that
Also, I don't agree about walmart just selling pods, masks and that sort of thing. I've been in sporting goods stores (dicks, sports authority and galyans) that the people working there didn't know jack about paintball markers or anything that goes along with them. Let alone knowing how to fill a Co2 tank. I don't know how many times our tanks have ended up being free, because they didn't or couldn't get them all the way full. Just because a retailer sells the stuff, doesn't mean they will be knowledgable about them. It's just a job to them that brings in some cash.
Admit it, if you want experts, or even close to that you should go to a pro shop. People get there stuff from the other places because that's what they can afford and there is nothing wrong with that.
Personnally I'm glad that Wal-Mart carries PB equipment. The simple fact is that there are people who want to start playing paintball but they don't want to spend a fortune to do it.
When I was a noob I would have NEVER spent $1000.00 on a marker. Now I don't think it's such a big deal. And because Wal-Mart is such a big retailer they can afford to mark down the prices on merchandise.
As for the amount of knowledge of the staff....do you really expect the staff to know the difference between a BE Merauder and a 98 Custom? I don't.....but then again I don't go asking them if they know anything about any of their other merchandise either....because most of the time they are just warm bodies to fill a position; no product knowledge required.
But for the safety factor.....I agree with the folks that said new players need to be taught the correct and safe way to use their PB equipment.
I'm glad Wal-Mart sells the equipment simply because of the price and the location. Many people will never set foot into a PB pro-shop but just about everyone goes to Wal-Mart. So in that aspect it's good. But the fact that it is being sold the masses with only the safety warnings in the box and on the marker in very small print can lead to injury from misuse.
So needless to say this issue is a double edged sword. Personal responsibility is a key factor in this entire argument. But I would dare say that it is our responsibility as experienced players, who know right from wrong, to teach new players how to safely handle their gear. Don't expect a new player to know what you know.....take a few minutes to show them the ropes.
I am a bit disappointed that Walmart doesn't sell cheap chronographs anymore. They originally sold one that would fit over the marker's barrel. It would be nice for parents to have that option when they are buying a couple kits to let their kids play outlaw PB safer.

Maybe its just my branch, but seriously, encouraging kids to unscrew burst discs off a full tank on a hot summer day isn't exactly the afest or sanest thing.
