Urban myth # 4,341: A paintball tank, with no gas compressed inside, will somehow "blow up" if taken up in an airplane.
Total crap, unless the tank is bad/malfunctioning anyway. If a tank can withstand being hydrotested without exploding in a massive boomitty boom, then it's not going to somehow pressurize itself from +/- 0 p.s.i. to the pressure that would make it explode.
Even a tank that's "half full" wouldn't come close to exploding, but it would be (in the minds of airlines) safer to empty the tank completely first.
Also, if you used an old drop, or had a tank with an on/off, you could just make sure the valve was open.
