get what you want..and if your dad calls..say you met a nice girl and had to take her out on a date..that stuff gets expensive, movie/dinner/etc.

or you could say that you had to pay something extra in your dorm (dont know what you have to pay when you live in a dorm) say somthing like your phone bill was high..or your electricity bill was high cuz it was cold and you had to turn the heat up..

Exactly.

When he checks my account activity it'll show him exactly where it's from. Hence why the village purchase is "snowboarding gear and winter wear" and the amazon purchase is "CD's and a history textbook".

Only prob is...I just hope it doesn't show up specific enough to say "PBGEAR" or the shop that is getting paid by amazon for the item (which is also paintball specific).

Otherwise I'm tanked. Wish me luck boys.

Yeah I'll keep you guys posted...who knows, he might find out tonight or he might never mention it.

Had all my needs paid off, all the money I had availible for it was just play money I had left over from my job this past summer (totaling about $1000). I had a separate fund for all my college expenses (textbooks, tuition, housing, food) and a fund just for my LDS mission. I'm all set, but my dad's always been one to manage his money well, something I'm glad to have inherited from him.

Being fiscally responsible sure doesn't mean I can't have fun, eh?

BTW: anyone know some good textbook buyback sites? I might be able to recoup that money I spent on the textbooks I have sitting in my room that didn't get sold...

Knee pads and pack are in the mail already.

Sublimated jersey will take at least a week (I'd guess) plus another week to get here. I'm in no hurry, our first match is in late Feb. Just practices until then.

i wouldnt waste the time with the book buy-back programs

they give you like $10 for the beeok you payed $100 for, then sell em for $70

i would just keep them until next year, and try and sell them to the new freshmen for about half of what you payed for em, or put up a paper on the post boards that says what books you have for sale

I would do that but I'm leaving for my mission at the end of the summer and won't be back until Fall semester of 2007. And by then the books will all be new editions...gah.

That's one advantage of being single again (by distance, not necessarily by choice)...you aren't tied down with spending money on a girl so you can instead spend all that moola on PB.

They haven't noticed yet...and the transactions are now in their second day. Wonderful!

I'd just play phone tag with him for a few days until my sister found me on campus.

i.e. Make sure I'm not home when he calls and turn off the answering feature on my machine.

He really couldn't do anything about it, especially since it's my play money. Regardless I'm in the clear, but the less fake grief I have to go through in dealing with my rents, the better.

The conversation would probably be something like this:

Dad: "Jared, what did you spend almost $150 dollars on for paintball? It's not a priority Jared!"

Me: "Dad, I understand, but at the same time I spent hardly any money on PB except for my marker and old pack because I was saving up just like you told me to. Look at me- paying for every bit of my college, paid for both cars I've had, never gotten a ticket or accident, had my own business, saved everything for my mission and even have some money ready for when I get back. Please don't lecture me on being responsible with my money. Thank you."

Kinda loudmouthed, but when I make him realize that I'm not a foolish kid then he steps off.
