As I was photographing this weekend, I ALMOST got shot. It was a 2 v 1 near the end of the game, so I got behind a beercan that was in the far corner of the field and started taking pictures over the top of it. Suddenly I see a string of paint flying straight at me from the opposite corner, and I duck just in time.

In fact I got really lucky shooting yesterday. I only got shot once, and it was a bounce.

When was the last time you've played?

I was sitting down while these fools played a 1v1, I turned to walk to my camera and one of them ran by me. Caught a ball straight in the back of the neck.

While we're here...

It costs about 20 bucks, including a cheap ass tripod...but its not original idea...

And anyone not worried about their camera not getting hit either 1: is not getting very good shots, 2: has a crappy camera, or 3: rich enough to replace it.

I use a Canon SD400 and I dont exactly feel like replacing it every time I go out...

That would be heavy, but a problem I'm having is that when I go to turn the tripod top it moves the whole thing. That's a good idea, can you pm me with details on how you did it?

Is that attached to a tripod, or is it just the tripod top?

There is obviously always a risk, but I'm getting better at protecting myself and my camera. I'm more afraid of shots bouncing off bunkers and hitting my camera than direct hits. If you are photographing stuff but also paying attention to what's going on in the game, then you won't get shot.

Good ideas:
- Stay low. Lay on your stomach if you have to
- Don't stand too close to bunkers that will be shot at
- Cover your camera with your hands. Don't hold it with your finger tips.

NYY, if you haven't learned to shoot with two eyes, learn it quick.

I have. I've learned to shoot in many weird positions too. I've also learned to use my peripheral vision with my non shooting eye to find my next subject.
