Paintball photographers, lend me your ears...
I had an idea, and I think it'd be great. On video cameras, and digital cameras, there is that screw in place on the bottom, for tripods and such. What if I made something that screwed into that, had an adjustable arm (so that it adjusts to different cameras/video cameras), and then a plexiglass shield, so that you could film/take pictures, and not worry about your camera being messed up. So I ask, would you be interested?

you know what else would be sick? if you made an attachment the on the bottom screws into the top of a baseball cap, then make a baseball cap with a strap so it wouldnt fall off.

He's not talking about rain.. he's talking about paintballs. Hence plexiglass. After reading this lastnight I came up with a great design for one, im gonna see if it works.

I think there is already something out there like this. A rain cover would probly also work.

Most people don't care enough. It generally doesn't damage the lend (getting hit by a paintball.)

True, I've taken a direct hit to the lense before and the camera wasn't harmed.

Yeah and that's what we mean.
No one really cares about their camera getting hit cause it won't damage it.

I think the biggest concern for paintball photographers is the lens, not the camera body itself. There is very little chance of the ball directly hitting your camera body because your hands are covering it. But the lens sticks out, and is prone to stray fire/bounces. If you REALLY want to impress paintball photographers, invent some kind of glass that can withstand the full blast from a paintball, and at the same time maintain the best possible image quality.

My dad uses a rain cover and a clear filter on his camera when he's taking pics. Some of the people taking pictures at the Chicago PSP even didn't have covers or anything over there cameras...just a filter. That way if they get hit right on the lense, it will break the $20-$50 filter instead of the $200+ lense. My dad broke 2 filters in Chicago...each costed him about 35 bucks...but saved a $1,200 lense. Just made it a little dirty, but nothing a good cleaning can't fix.
