I remember an engineer friend of mine who's been playing and working at a paintball field for quite some time now telling me that even if a paintball could really be frozen, the paint would be turned back into liquid when it's shot out the gun anyway.
I don't know if this has already been said (cough), but the only kind of paint that could actually be frozen, is Monster Ball.
This is due to its water to oil ratio. There is simply too much water in the formula making it actually possible to freeze it. The oil is what lowers the freezing temperature, and because Monster Ball is lacking oil and has a higher H2O content that other paint, it freezes.
ya i was thinking there would be some low budget paint out there that would have enoufgh water in them to freeze, if i get my hands on some ill throw them in the freezer and see what happens
They will freeze, yes, but unless you can manage to keep them COMPLETELY spherical, chances are they won't fire.
Make sure you don't shoot those things out of a gun you like :P. I have never shot a frozen paintball, per se, but I have frozen them before just to see if they would freeze.
O CRAP I NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT!!!!!!!! ultimate nerf showdown......
thanks matrix, its gunna be a fun weekend
and as for the frozen paint, if you think im gunna run odd shapped frozen paint through a dm6 and a dw fiber barrel your nuts......now the impulse on the other hand.......
- Expensive equipment automatically makes anybody an awesome player
- Cheap equipment makes you a crap player
- HPA is inherently and absolutely better than CO2
A myth that really bugs me is that people think paintballs can break windows
Point blank range, they can. I've shattered Heineken bottles with my 98 before (Flatline barrel on, too, so it was shooting at 250 fps). May depend on the strength and type of glass, but I have broken glass before with paintballs.

what would be the porpose of that? they may even stick to the barrel, it would be way easier to get some of those cotton puff balls that are used for arts and crafts. those sure would be fun
You can always clean them out, it's for a ghetto shotgun. The saran wrap is to hold them together in the shape of a paintball. Plus a few dry fires will get the rest of the crap out of the barrel.
I wonder how cigarettes fare when shot out of a marker?
Or spitballs?

don't have to be point blank, i have seen a paintball shot thru plexi glass at about 100 ft.
i've also seen a paintball put a hole in a tin coffee can also.
Uh... I thought you were't supposta shoot non-paint balls out your gun... shame on you Matrix agent!!!
(OK I shot some pine cones out of my gun... before I got any paint)

Just to correct something someone said on page 1, windows can break because of paintballs but, not from velocity. I used to play airsoft and JUST BECAUSE YOUR GUN IS HIGH FEET PER SECOND OR GOES FASTER IT DOESNT MEAN IT WILL HIT STRONGER, OR HARDER ! It may make them travel faster, but this was a big issue in airsoft. The only time FPS is important to airsofters is the issue of dodging the BBs, but thats off topic.
and this is just an opinion ive formed over my paintballing experience, paintballs do not freeze, there may be something in the paintball that can freeze but not the paint in general
JUST BECAUSE YOUR GUN IS HIGH FEET PER SECOND OR GOES FASTER IT DOESNT MEAN IT WILL HIT STRONGER, OR HARDER !
that may be your opinion but in the real world the physics say a paintball traveling at 300fps has more energy than one traveling at 250fps. more energy in the same object=higher potential to break something. why do you think masks are only rated to 300fps? if the fps didnt matter then you could be shooting way hotter than 300 and not run the risk of hurting anyone
