i'm thirteen, got my spyder for christmas (last year), saved up for a mask, tan, and hopper.
I am currently saving for a azodin kaos pump. I want to try playing pump to hone in my skill (i don't really know the right term, but hone in will do)
I also don't like spending to much on paint. My only local field will only allow paint from the store or there own, and only draxxus paint. I consider my self to be ok at paintball.
I can shoot around 8 bps and hit my target (most of the time).
I'm don't brag at the field, and I respect the other people there. I don't cheat or claim that other people are cheating (unless I SEE them wipe paint or something).
Luckily, most people at my field are respectable, and the refs don't favor people.
It's to bad that there are people out there that do that. I feel good that I haven't had any bad experiences.
About the story- It's funny, but I do think the 18 yr. old was a bit of an ass, unless the 13 yr. old was already out.

Grrr... I'm 16 and can't stand anyone like this...
And sure, I have an ego and some pretty good equipment, but I work and pay for all of my stuff myself (other than say christmas gifts that kind of thing) ... I think that's the way everyone should get their stuff then you actually have to work with a mech until you can understand how to use and appreciate a high end electro

Wow Just Wow.. I can't believe some of the trash in this thread. Seems some kids, now older didn't get breast fed as an infant.

I have 3 great 13 year old boys that are forced to play older and much more experienced players that whine with the best of ya. I find it disheartening that older players bag on the young kids for what gear they have and what age they are. No wonder Paintball, since I played with 68 carbines and old automags has gone to ****. The older players hate it when younger players show up enthusiastic about a sport that I've experience almost diminishing 50%. Its those spoiled kids and their parents along with some faithful oldtimers that keep money in the sport you all so love.

I'm speechless.. These 13 year olds are forced to play colleged aged boys and young men just because these sandbaggers need to pay bills with the gear they win. How about these douchebags that sand bag just pay their bills and stop ruining the competitive speedball for beginners. I'd prefer that tournaments give non gear or money prizes. Be a Hell of alot more youngsters getting into the sport and a bunch of sandbagging whiners getting out.

The damndest thing is. At the home field these 3 boys are highly respected for stepping on the field and Practicing with L2 Teams. I have never heard a bad comment from anybody regarding the boys. Only good things from Field owners that appreciate these youngster going at it with more experienced players, getting beat and getting back out to play again.

Rant Off****

If you're going to get angry and rant, please at least read the whole thread. Nobody is bashing all thirteen year olds who are playing paintball. What everyone is saying is how people can't stand it when 13 year olds talk trash and have equipment that both their skill level and their maturity can't properly put to use. We're talking about the kind of kids who say how everyone else suck, wipe on the field and then cry to their rich parents afterwards about how they got shot out and how everyone else obviously cheated.
Yeah, not all kids are like that of course. I'm only 16, and I love it when a young kid comes out that actually has some skill and can put good equipment to good use. However, and I'm sure you can agree, it's frustrating when you see some young kid (or anyone for that matter) who is overly cocky and has stuff like egos and DM's when their skill and attitude don't deserve it.

Then You should read all of my Post. Or at least the very first Line. Some = Not All.

I'm 42 years of age and have seen just about all of it from NPPL to D6. The deterioration of the sport is usually not from all the new players but the older ones thinking they have some sort of right of passage for their actions. In which case is usually worse than the 13 year olds that "SOME" have spoken up about. Oh I've seen the Agg kid that shows up one time at the field bragging. I usually buy his marker off craigslist when the new wears off and he hasn't been back to the field in months.....

The Boys of triple Threat all shoot new G6R's. Does that make them spoiled and rich? They started their first tournament with Spyders. Then won gear, then traded to ION's then won more gear, then traded for Mini's. When the 4 G6R's magically appeared at $650 each, it was the teams paintball fund and travel money, selling 2 mini's and an 08 Ego that purchased them. call them what you want for having nice stuff. i realize that not every kid gets into a good situation like the team. However, each of the parents are being responsible enough to show up at practices, watch and understand. Not just drop their kid off at the field for someone else to babysit. During our last tryouts, I interviewed the parents of each potential player. Its a team game and the parents HAVE to be part of it or they don't play.

Angry

i'm only 16 and i still catch a lot of flak for having a $700 setep, but i work at the field where i play and i earn my money. (not to mention i've been playing for about 4 years) it's a little dis-heartening to see an 11 year old kid that got the newest ego for christmas come up to the field and is completely new to the sport come and act all cocky. skill definately gets proven in the game and not the pits. my brother just started playing (12) and he's semi decent and uses a g4, which he saved up for about a year for.

So you are saying that older players can't respect younger people?
maybe you're not in an area where players like this thread was created about exist; if so consider yourself lucky.

I'm 25 and am just barely on the cusp of the generation who can do things for themselves, think for themselves, and was spanked all over my house. That's not to say that the generation below me are all bad, but there's a higher percentage of them who grew up undisciplined, and were given everything on a silver platter. (and thus, act accordingly) these are the kids this thread is about.

I'm ecstatic that you have well behaved children, the world needs more of them! Those sandbaggers you complain about are part of the new generation I'm complaining about.
