A little story about my paintball day
I just feel a need to vent a little bit since I didn't get to play paintball AGAIN today, and here's why -
We had four people actually show up, surprising that we could get that many actually. We play in the woods behind a friends house, and we were there and had played our first round. As I am walking up to the 'safe' area I hear a marker go off. I place my mask back on (we were supposed to be done playing the round), and I hear a guy say "Hey now careful where you point that thing" . He said it in a friendly way, but also to tell the guy to be careful. When I get there I notice that 3 of us have either a plug or sleeve in or on our markers. One guy, however, doesn't - the same guy who apparently just had his marker go off unexpectedly.
SO when I get there I ask him if he is going to plug his marker. He claimed his plug would not fit the barrel - I offer him my extra plug - He says it's the same one he has so it will not fit.
Finally I offer my barrel sleeve since it will fit any barrel. He refuses and says he will just keep the marker pointed away. I told him that wasn't good enough for safety reasons and that if he refuses to plug it I am leaving.
Well I wouldn't be writing this if he plugged it, I left. I wonder if I could have handled it differently since I know I can be rather blunt when I am sure I am right.
Anyway, I just needed to share that and I hope we can find people to play that care about safety and other people. I hate to think I bought all this stuff just to let it sit around.
Thanks for listening.. or readng..... or whatever.....

the only other way to have handled it woud have been to talk to the other 2 safe players. The three of you could have refused to let the other play unless he complied.
At least that way you could have had some fun, even if it was the 3 of you.
Kudos for sticking to your guns, though. (no pun intended )

You could have beat him into using it. Or kinda...accidently... shown him what could happen without a barrel plug.

Sorry if it's posted in the wrong place, I figured that since it happened while playing that this area would be ok.
I guess I should have asked the other guys if not having his plugged was ok with them, I just figured that they would just mumble and try to stay out of it. I know that many times I won't say anything when others have a disagreement, but when it comes to safety, someone has to do or say something.

Haha, no it's not my cat. It kinda looks like her though... I found it online, and wanted to put "You make Kitty scared" right above it, but I can't figure out how to change it from "registered user." do i need a certain number of posts maybe? Your cat's not bad either, btw.

Just thought I would let everyone in on the conclusion to this story -
I talked to my friend again (the one that wouldn't use a plug) and we hashed things out. He finally consented to useing a barrel sleeve ! YAY!! Now we plan on a full day of woodsball Sunday, and I simply can't wait.

Good job, why wouldn't he use a plug in the first place? Was he just being a dick?

Yeah he really was. Although I have never seen him try to plug this marker, I assume he is telling the truth about it not fitting. (he has stock barrel and the plug that came with the marker though - I would think that would fit) .
Anyway, I went ahead and got him a barrel condom as a present. Happy 'ballin!
