Less then 100 bucks pumpy...

I'm looking for a pump thats under 100 bucks. Everything I hear about playing pump is that it makes you better at semi. And I'm always slooking for a challenge/ways to improve myself.

I am looking at an SL-68 2, the only tippmann other then a pro/carbine I'd consider buying... Is an SL-68 2 good at all?

I know almost nothign abotu pump. I know you need to pump the gun every time you shoot. From what I can theorize, is that when you pump it back, it cocks the bolt, loads a paintball in front of the bolt, and when you pull the trigger, the valve and bolt let go, and it shoots the paintball. Correct, or is it more complicated then that?

What is the tube feed thing I see a lot? How is it better then gravity fed if at all? Its got a slimmer profile then a 200 rd hopper, thats fo sho.

And what is stock class? IS that just a tube-fed with a 12gram conversian/asa.

On my trracer, that's basically how it works. But I'm sure some markers work differently.

Tube feed just means that you use 10, 15, or 20 round tubes instead of a hopper. Mine is a 10 round gravity feed, meaning I use 10 round tubes that I just plug into the feedneck. I need to get it changed to a horizontal feed... it just looks funny right now.

Stock class has a set of special rules, one of those being you can only use 12 gram CO2 powerlets. www.stockclasspaintball.com and www.ottersccustoms.com I think have the rules of stock class and modified stock class. I'd do either, but I'm going pump for the money, and filling a tank is much cheaper than buying 12 grams. I'm buying a quick changer, anyways, just in case I feel the need to go stock.

I've never seen SL-68, but I've heard it wasn't bad. I'm sure someone will give you a much better answer than that.

Pump is awesome. Saves money, requires more thought/strategy, and helps improve your game all around. I'm still not good enough to compete with semis, but I try. It feels so good when you get someone out shooting 5 or less shots.

PS: Rock the Pro/Carbine! My favorite gun of all time. I had to give it up, though. I got an awesome deal on this Imagine, so it's all good. I'm thinking about getting a p/c, just for old time's sake.

People jump right over it to grab a 98 series or an A5. The Pro Carbine is way better then the 98 custom or model 98. People don't realize that the 98 is below it.

Try a PGP. Nice pump pistol, small, cheap, and fairly accurate. Pretty much indestructible.

SL682, tracer/maverick/, pgp are all good choices to get started in pump play.

Although it seems like you've made up your mind, I also agree that the PGP is a great gun. It's very accurate for it's size and being solid brass gives it a real solid feel and a smoooooth barrel. Unfortunately the newer ones occasionally have a ball breaking issue that can be resolved with a $25 aftermarket "pusher" bolt, (moves the paintball forward further then the stock one since some PGP's co2 port is too far forward which causes the breaks) but I still think it is a better deal then the older ones. With the quickchanger for 12 grams and PBs already on the newer one (PKP2k1 with the slightly longer barrel) it saves money and hassle of finding the same for the older one.

To compare a PGP to a SL-68 is not fair. A SL-68 is a LOT better then a PGP which in my world is a decent backupmarker for scenarioplaying.

When Getting a SL-68 there are a few things to concider:
A) Barrel - as all Tipman originals the barrel SUX this is even worse with a pump so get a better at first possible oppotunity.
B) If you want to play Paintball (regular PB like woods & speed with Semis around) dont go stock class. Get a Marker w CA.
C) You will definatly need a hopper anyway. I have about 5 BPS with my marker and a friend of mine could do 10 BPS with his. The pump action of the SL-68 is a bit "Tippmanish" (rough and "dureable") this means you wont go that high but you can do something about it by easing on the springs and smothing everything out.

And then Practice alot at the range before playing first game or you will end up using your squeege more then your marker. Be sure that you when you pum you go all the way back in the beginning or you will cruch the ball and will have to take the marker apart to clean it. This will happen anyway the first time you get into a firefight but dont say I didn't warn ya

Then Its just to go out and enjoy - the first couple of days will B hard on ya but Youll get bettter eventually LoL.

honesly i think the best pump gun is a hammer 3 by kingman, they are old and very very rare the production level was in the 1000's, the gun was in production for 2 months. Sadly this was the same months that teh spyder hit the market. i have a hammer origenal and love it.
