The 12 gram adapter screws in on the back of the gun right under the feed tube (as pictured). You can remove the 12 gram adapter and screw in a tank in the same place. Most people don't like the backbottle setup (the one that is shown in your picture), and take the option of VSC (vertical stock class, which means vertical adapter on the grip frame) or bottomline.
