Need Recommendation...
I am new to the sport of paintball, I have gone a couple of times, but have never owned a marker. I was originally going to get a Tippmann A-5 Electric as my first gun, but I cancelled my order. I am now interested in Pump guns mainly because of the pros of them. I plan on playing paintball as much as possible, and wish to become a good player, and I think using a pump in the beginning will really make me a much better player. I was wondering what pump is would you recommend for around 350 or less for just the gun only, not counting the paint job, or red dot, or any equipment like the mask, I hear the Phantom VSC w/ 45 grip is good, but I want to know what you guys think. Also, what colors do you recommend, I went to Phantom online, and some of them look really cool, but they are just samples, and I was wondering what might look best for the type of pump that you suggest. Thanks a ton!!!

You can get pumps in many forms. I think that the phantom is probably the most recognized pump out there and that they are excellent markers. You can also get pump kits for autococker style guns as well, I beleive CCM makes a really good one.
The person to pose this question too is D.Smalls. He is the king of pumps on this forum. His advice will not lead you astray.

I really appreciate the quick response and am excited to hear what D Smalls has to say. Thanks for the advice, I will try to look up the one made by CCM. I also found this and am interested in it, only $330. There may be a possibility I might get this one, but I want to hear what everyone else suggests first.
Edit: Nevermind, I was going to put a picture up of a micro phantom, but it has an advertisement of another website across the middle of the picture, and it wasn't xpaintball related, rather a totally different site. My mistake

yes get a phantom. i love mine. and you can post a paintball site wiht pump stuff, cause xpaintball doesn't have pump stuff. anyways you can get a vsc-45 phantom for 220 off of archerec.com i got mine there and am very happy with it. then you will prbably spend 25 for an acid wash and 14 for clear parts. make sure you get a set of detent rings though. help a ton. so i recomend vsc-45 phantom, trigger shoe, detent kit, clear parts, and any acid wash you like.personally i really like my black/green, and black/blue is nice. try to get the 10-round tube though. you don't need the 15. i'm going to try and use a dremel to make mine 12-round
if you have any other questions my aim is xblackstar182

If you want to play stock class, get a phantom. If you think you would like to play with a hopper more than stock class go with a sniper, illusion, or a sterling. Check out www.bunkerboyz.com to see some options other than phantoms.

you can probably buy that same thing for a lot cheaper at archerec.com anyways it looks nice that would be a good gun to get. let's see that would be... atleast 264 at archers. the anno would probably cost a little mroe than usual though. ask him how much it would be.

heh, kinda over glorifying me lol.
Do you plan on playing woodsball or speedball with this pump?
a stock class phantom on a speedball field will be tough for your first marker.. and you might get discouraged.. so if you plan on playing speedball, you may want an open class pump (constand air tank [like a.. 20oz for example] and hopper) if you go with phantom you could get a direct feed, though some say the feel is weird.. but once you were comfortable about that you could get a stock class reciever...
in the woods, a stock class phantom is prefect though. I suggest the vsc 45*. The m16 grip isnt that comfrontable and doesnt have standard asa screws in the bottem incase you want a stock or run a constant air tank (you can still get a special stock made to fit the m16 though, but still, they are uncomfortable)
colour really is up to you.. i like solid red (mine) but its faded so much.. the blue black acid wash is nice..
So yeah, if you want stock class, then phantom is definitely what ya want..
might i suggest you pick up a 10 round feed tube also.. helps with 'rock n' cock' see since the feed tube is horizontal, you need to tilt the gun to let the balls roll down into the breach.. with the 15 round tube the roll is a longer distance so it takes longer and you gotta tilt it more to be fast.
