Thinking about pump...

Ok, im thinking about playing pump, im not gunna stop playing semi, but pump is kinda fun, and i could just do it when i dont have a lot of paint/money. any advice for me? And would an ACI maveric be a reliable starter pump gun? as i said, im not gunna stop playing semi, but i think pump would be nice at the end of the day when u dont have much paint left.

So ya, im pretty much just asking for tips and if a aci maveric is worth my money.

Christian and 2ffu need to try some other pumps, there are deffintly a bunch of pumps that will work nicer than a phantom. Element, the tracer/maverick is a great starter pump. Decnet pump stroke auto trigger, ready for a hopper and tank out of the box. It should give you a good feel of what pump is about.

Yupp I agree with all of the above Sounds wierd huh.

Id rate the pumps Ive played with like this.

Sterlings - I still have min nuff said
Phantoms (Well these are good the barrel works out of the box, needs springkit and syphon/anti-syphon though)
Tippman SL-68 (Didn't own it by one of my team mates had one so I've probably played 30-40 hours w that one. New Barrel is a MUST the stock barrel sux. Also this is a rough pump it is VERY durable but tends to be a bit heavy in the pump action.)
Traccer (owned one even played Tourny w. it. Needs a new barrel and a springkit. Also look into a syphon/anti-syphon bottle)
PGP

I have not tried the hammer but according to the ppl using it it is ok.

And now to the part where U'll hear ppl disagree (who mostly didn't try)
For any pump get a syphon CO2 I'd say a 12oz. Why because U can use a lighter spring when drawing liquid and still have the fps. Also if U use a normal CO2 and adjusts your velocity on gas sooner or later U'll use the auto trigger for a while and start drawing liquid and at that moment U'll bounce from 280 fps to 350+ fps NOT FUN!

The alternative is to use a anti-syphon that is the way to go if U allready have one or HPA.

yep, the aci maverick, and trracer are good guns. i thought the same excact thing, and boguth a trracer. then... i lvoed it so much i sold my semi and bought me phantom. anyways, i pretty much agree with what everybody here has said. if you want to play stock class thoguh, buy a sidekick stock. nice little pistol, about $60 new, and for a tad extra you can get it with either a brass barrel, or brass barrel and spring feeder. paintballstuff.com is that site.

true, its just phantoms are my personal preference because they are easy to get parts for, easy to upgrade, easy to customize, and will always work.

I have played with SL-II's, Sterlings, etc....I just like phantoms.

IMO phantoms are really only good for stock class. They have great air effciency from 12 grams which is always good when you only have 10 shots. But if you want to play direct feed, I think the phantom is really not your best choice. The pump stroke is really bad compared to a lot of pumps and if you plan on 300 or more shots your arm will be killing you if your pump stroke is not smooth. I think that some other companys do a much better job.
