8/10 for what it is and making it your own. I'm not one for tippy's personally but thats just me. I can respect what you've done to it to make it individual, better that way than a run of the mill thing like the guy next to you.

For all you speedballers ripping on Mil-sim players, please not the following excerpt from the rules OF THE FORUM YOU ARE IN!

The new system and how it will help you

This is the most important part of this forum. This rule will be followed by all. You will rate the gun by its division or class. Do not rate a gun against altogether different guns. For example do not rate a stock-class paintball gun against the top-of-the-line angel or other guns. Rate it by price and category.

I'm a little late on this comment but what the hell.... That rule is for people who would rate a low end marker, i.e. A-5, against something like an Ego or DM marker. That doesn't really apply to markers that are different in the sense of milsim vs. speedball.

And another thing I do woodsball mostly...speedball every now and then....and I still hate mil-sim players. Not because they play soldier, but because they sacrifice performance for looks.

A-5

A very cool gun. My A-5 has a flatline,e-trigger and
a a-7 hopper. Question for you anti-tippmann people
how come tippmann has not gone out of business? I have
heard so much bad things about the A-5. My gun has never
been cleaned, or worked on. I go buy balls or gas and these high dollar guns are being worked on. I do not know the names of these guns, but they are pretty. To bad the A-5 is only allowed to play in the woods.

They aren't out of business yet because:
1. fields use their markers as rentals so all new players get familiar with them, so they buy them.
2. They hype up their upgrades and jack up the price of markers/upgrades and new players fall for the hype, so they spend money on things like the flatline, e-trigger, and all the various other worthless upgrades.

All when you can buy a nice spyder, that outperforms, is lighter, faster, and already is electronic for cheaper.

And the reason you see all the people with other markers in the shop getting them fixed is because they don't take care of their markers.

Tippmann has a nice combination of low price, wide distribution and brand recognition. Players have heard of Tippmann being great and reliable and when a player goes looking for their first marker it is easy to find and afford a Tippmann. Chances are a first time player isn't going to want to spend $700+ on their first marker but an A5 or X7 isn't the cheapest or most expensive so it looks like a good place to start. The reason your A5 works without being cleaned is because it is a pure mechanical marker and like all mechanical markers if it holds air it will cycle it is hard for a bit of paint or dirt to stop a few hundred pounds of pressure. Eventually the damage will get done dirt and filth being forced against the orings will wear them out and muddy paint scum building up inside will corrode the metal. So two pieces of advice for you 1) clean your damn marker and 2) Take your Tippmann out of the woods once in a while there is a lot more to paintball than hiding in a shrub.

^^This is true.
Give that gun some love, and it will last a lot longer.
Also, if you're at a field with people who are serious about their Tippmanns, they'll be working on them.

The Spyder brand are good markers. I have buddy that has one that has never worked for very long. Another buddy has a old one that works all the time. Paint balling is a very fun sport. I have not played speedballing but hope to. The A-5 is loud and heavy.I will look into cleaning my gun.I love debating and like the A-5 so bring it on.

Maybe it's time for me to come clean on why I really love Tippmanns so much. I have about a zillion of them, I'm basically running a rental shack out of my gear bag for all my broke friends, and for when that random person shows up at a private game, and it's nice to know that whichever model, year, or generation just broke down (which rarely happens), I have the parts to fix it. It's also nice to know I can fix ALL of them blindfolded, without any warning of which one I'm about to work on.
