hmm I love the camo on your gun...

Gear doesnt make you an effective player. The squishy pink thing between your ears does.

get 2 pillows and tape them to your shoes...

im not kidding either...one of my friends did that and it worked pretty good...if you step on a twig, it has a lower chance of breaking, and if it does break...nobody will here it because the sound will be muffled...dead leaves is a different story though.

That company doesn't make the hopper, they made a pad that goes in the hopper.

Basically what you need to make yourself a woodsball stalker is tactics. If you want to you can get a ghillie suit, or make your own.

If used properly, a ghillie can be priceless when stalking your fellow man on the field. I personally wear one, and if you use it right, they work.

http://www.tacticalmarkers.com/mvc-002v.mpg

This is a video showing how useful a ghillie can be. Check it out.
Also on the site is instructions under the Tips and Tactics section on how to make your own ghillie suit. Also there are alot of other tactics and tips on there to help you out tactics wise when it comes to woodsball.

One thing you can do is to camouflage your gun a bit. Take burlap strips and wrap them around the barrel and body of the gun so that it breaks up the contour. This way if someone sees the gun, they have less of a chance of recognizing it as a gun, but more as a blob.

Once on the field do what is called "vedgeing up" this means take natural foliage (leaves twigs and weeds) and intersect them into the burlap, making it look like part of the terrain.

Paintball is too fast paced for ghillie, IMO

Speedball definately, then again I HAVE plaed a game or two in a ghillie for kicks and giggles. Haha

But where recball is concerned, it can be useful. I personally wear one AND use it during paintball games. It really depends on field size and such. If you have a really cramped field, it's just not going to work. If you have a decent woods field it will.

In Scenario games it is a big plus.

For ME it is not too fast paced for a ghillie, then again everyone has had different experiences.

And if the field is not suitable for the ghillie, don't put it on. You can always take the ghillie off in between games if you have to. It's not that hard. Ghillies can also be used for regular hunting if you want too.

But like I said, we all have had different experiences and we all have different opinions. It is really up to the circumstances.

You remind me way too much of myself a few years ago... Search for a thread entitled Snipers in Paintball written by yours truely, and I will have explained it better.

WEll every time I comment on somethign you say how everyone is entitled to their opinions adn while "my speedball" stuff is different then "your woodsball"... etc.

My gun may be able to shoot 20 balls per second, but that doesn't make me a speedballer. I play paintball. Whether that means in the woods with a piece of 3/4" pvc and a 10 round tube, or on the airball field with my pack and muppet mower, I play paintball.

I have 3 sets of BDU's, much headwear, three pairs of combat boots, and the experience under my web gear to boot. Being a player of woods and speedball, I know what I'm talking about.

You seem to be the kind of person who would show up at a field with airballa nd woodsball, and if you hear the thunderous pops of the break over at the x-ball field, you'd say something to the effect of "I hate speedball; its a waste of paint."

I've met many people like yourself, and parading on the forums with that attitude doesn't get you anywhere. Many people have been banned ebcuae of that. I can think of two right off the top of my head.

What I'm getting at, is before you say how much better something is for woodsball then speedball, step back and look at what your saying.

You put paintballs in your hopper, and shoot them at other people that are behind cover. Either way, its the same concept, and the same strategy can and is applied to both aspects of the sport.

I understand completely that you just want to help other people, and I admire you for that. Its much harder to help someone then to clal them a n00b and step over them.

Just remember to consider both sides of everything.

If it seemed that I was parading around the forums with an attitude, I apologize. That was not my intent. I am a very opinionated person and tend to stick to my guns alot.

If at any point I say something is better for woodsball, or better for speedball, it is concerning things such as ghillies and the like. Realistically, a ghillie is nonsense on an airball field, and saying so makes sense. Correct?

I do not hate speedball, although when I hear alot of fire I do tend to say "nickel" everytime a shot is fired (inside joke about cost of paint with my father). I play speedball from time to time, I used to referee speedball. And although I am extremely out of place with a tac vest, holster, and a very large marker (Armotech WS66) I play and I enjoy it from time to time.

I too play paintball, and If my opinionated manner comes off as abrasive, that is just what happens on the internet. Text does not carry voice inflection very well. I am also very sarcastic, so comments such as the condescending comment I made earleir are usually made in that nature.

I think we'll get along just fine.

DUDE, get a ghili, a 27 inch barrel, 10x magnifing scope, bear repellent, human scent remover, and a barrel supressor.

But really, what makes a player proficient is good teamwork and woods tactics.

along with things said above, NEVER rapid fire. when someone starts shooting at me I usually dont know exactlly where it came from, until they start shooting like crazy. Take a shot, move to a different position, and take an other. And wait for a good shot, just cause you can see em dosent neccasaraly mean you'll hit them.

Exactly. It usually takes hearing a sound several times to pinpoint where it is comming from. So if you take one or two shots, eliminate your target, and quietly move to a different position, you'll be fine.

If you are taking the role of a stalker or paintball sniper (I know the term isn't appreciated much but still) i suggest never firing more than 3 or 4 shots from one position, unless that position has been compromised and they are firing at you.

If that happens shoot back but retreat. Once you get to a point where you can't be shot at, or their paint isn't hitting you, move to a different position away from that area without firing.

About to erupt........... whew ok it passed....

I absolutly hate when MOST people use that tactic, because they do it out of fear. (the tactic is good for a scenario game, but players who use it in rec woodsball piss me off)

There is a group of people i play with that rely on that constantly. When we play total elimination (no flags). The game turns to hide and seek with the "snipers" running and hiding time and time after they are discovered

In conclusion, good when used correctly, bad any other time
