do you wear a ghillie suit?

This question is directed mostly to woods/senerio(SP) ballers, but if speed ball is more your thing then opinions on if you would are also welcomed.

I made a simple ghillie suit out of camo netting instead of burlap and jute. Its not quite as elaborate or complicaed as those (its acctually just camo netting I folded in half and drapped over myself), but it should get the job done. Since i play woodsball I though this would be a good idea since I'm always being exposed for lack of camoflage, but I fear that it might just get in the way.

Anyway, I just want to see if anyone eles uses a ghillie suit, Or if you think its practical to use one in a paintball game.

Only if you you start rapid fireing. A person usually has to hear a sound a few time to pinpoint EXACTLY where it came from.

my buddy made one for just his mask when we play in the desert, however when we play in the woods a simple camo outfit does the trick just fine.

My brother wears one, it's killer. You'll overheat in the summer time and die. He was laying out on the field yesterday just breathing heavy, scared the crap out of me.

Keep in mind that this forum is a mostly speedball based forum. So unfortunately, you get the uneducated responses like "It makes you look retarded" and the like.

I have worn a ghillie, I still do on occasion.

The purpose of the ghillie is not to camo you up, but to break up the contour of the human body. You camo it up by adding natural foliage to it, to look like a bush.

Most people here will tell you they are pointless, useless, and have no place in paintball. Keep in mind that the cast majority of those who say this have never worn on, or never been taken out by someone properly using one.

As someone who has wears and makes high grade ghillies, I can tell you this:

If you use it right, it will work fine. The ghillie depends on your environment; the field you are playing on, the type of game being played, the natural cover that is around you.

Obviously if you have 5-10 minute games it will not be worth it. If you are playing scenarios or longer woodsball games (30 minutes and over) then it will be fine.

Practicality if only determined by how you use it. If you walk down the middle of the trail asuming that some camo netter and weeds will make you invisible, it will obviously not be practical. That is using the ghillie improperly.

If you stay in your well picked spot, and have your observer/spotter also heavily camoed (ghillie or just well hidden), and use one or two rounds on one target and then not shoot for a long enough time to be forgotten about, you will be fine.

Tips and Tactics Articles

For probably all the information you will need to know about using your ghillie, and playing woodsball with tactics in mind.

i really discourage the use of guillie suits in paintball for several reasons
1- there is no sniping in paintball
2- you look silly
3- you may not feel a shot
4- its harder to detect a shot on a guillie suit

I dont wear a gillie suit when woodsballing, but I use camo coveralls. They have rental coveralls at the field but they are all filled with wholes and used by hundreds of people. So I found some cheap camo coveralls at a thrift store I bought them.
