Today at school I was called a wimp by a fellow pber who I am guessing plays speedbal and has never played woodsball. I personally like woodsball a little more than speedball, but respect speedballers nonetheless. Well I didn't know how to respond to this insult? Any suggestions. The only way that I could think of making him not think that is for him to play a game with my friends and I, but he is set against it so...? I'd like to defend this aspect of the sport. Any reply's would be helpful.

Don't even begin, it's gonna turn into a flame war. You can't say someone who plays speedball isn't a true baller. Do woodsball tournaments get huge media coverage, sponsorships, tons of people in attendance? No. Speedball is the type people like to watch, simple as that.
well im not saying your not a true baller if you dont play woodsball, i prefer speedball over woodsball. And yes Oklahome D-Day gets media coverage and tons of people in attendance
I love to play woodsball and I love to watch speedball and BOTH are true forms of pb for sure, but how do I go about helping him understand that WB is a type too, not just speedball. I would just let it go, but I am in English with him everyday and everyday he goes on and on about how woodsball players are afraid to get shot. I don't want this to turn into a flame war between woods and speedball because there is already enough of that in the pb world. My question is how to get him to understand the woodsball is apart of the sport too.

Without the combination of woodsball and Speedball, our sport would cease to exist as it does today. Woodsball/rec brings in the bulk of the funds (argue if you want but its true) and speedball gets the sport in the public eye. Both are needed to keep the sport thriving, and I, like many other peopl have no problem switching over to woodsball every once in a while.Don't bother arguing with him. If he is going to be ignorant, there's nothing you can do about it. Just let your marker do the talking and spank him on the field, be it filled with trees or balloons.

Woodsball and speedball are two opposite ways to play paintball, and they both require different methods. In speedball you tend to use quick-thinking and agility the most. In woodsball it's thought out movements, high amount of trust in your teammates, and good, minimal communication. Completly different game apart from the fact your shooting paintballs. If you play paintball your not a wuss no matter what, unless your the type who becomes paralyzed when you hear paintballs whizzing over your bunker. Just tell him to take you in a game of woodsball and see if he rethinks his comments .

Remind him that he probably came from the woods also. Mention that woodsball is where the new players start so naturally they will make up a large portion of woodsballers, and since they are new they fear being shot.
If he keeps going. Ignore him. He's just hating.

You really can't say that woodsplayers are wimps just because they aren't shooting 15 bps at each other... If anything they are smarter because the spend less on paint. (Heh... not really. )
say nothing. when i guy starts talking like that you arent going to get through to him. just flick him off like the noob he is(noob because he's ignorant, not because he's a speed baller) and ignore him.
and spank, thats a really good post, and very true. personally im not a fan of playing speedball(mostly because i suck at it, lol) but i can understand why people do, and what you said about what they each bring to the sport is spot on. good job.

My name is splat, not spank. Thats a weird pervy name.
And thanks, I'm tired of ignorant noobs jumping all over the side of the sport they don't play, cuz their too lazy to try and understand it. In the same day I can go from slinging 15bps on the speedball field to running through the woods with my phantom, one balling guys from behind a pile of limbs, and I couldn't be happier.

Woodsball and speedball are completely different games. Personally, I like woodsball more than speedball; however, I still play both. In fact, I can't help but love the hardcore speedball players... they keep my paint at a decent price!
Woodsball is tactical, and speedball is... uh... speedy. That's all there is to it.
without both forms of pb there wouldn't be a pb like spankwithhonor said. heh... spankwithhonor.
also the tourney and speedball players actually help out the woodsballers more than they know... thoes 5 pods and a hopper they go through in one game is the only thing that makes paintballs somewhat affordable these days. they used to be like 100+ a case.
