but think about how much you could gain if you went with an e gun. plus if you ever want to get more into the sport you're going to need something other then a pump gun.

I think it is unless your a pro player... if you can consistantly hit heads when they pop out for a split second or two, then your good to go with either a mech or a pump although if you can't aim nearly that well, you'll need an electric to keep up because of the sheer spraying needed to shoot down lanes

Bunkering could also pose a problem for less experiecned players with a mech or pump

However, if your a new player, definately stick with a mech or pump gun to learn how to conserve ammo until needed, so that your not always walking your trigger in useless situatons

I went from a pm5 to a phantom, getting more into the sport means nothing. The pump works just fine if thats the path you take, I like it better in speedball then I liked my pm5. The phantom is light, accurate, and very small and compact. I can get farther up off the break with the reduced weight and bulk.

Really its just personal preferance, depends how you play and how hard you want to work at it.

true, but you most not be playing at a very serious level of paintball then. maybe that works for you. but i'm sorry i don't think pumps should be your gun very far into your paintballing career. but yes personal preferance works... until a certain point. then its just proven facts that you need to get away from the pumps.
