Car hoods are nice, buried a little in. Piles of dirt. Really anything. Dumpster diving is a great idea, especially at apartment complexes. Dumpsters at construction sites. Tires at Jiffy Lube or Grease Monkey. Pallets at Home Depot or stores like that. It seems to me that most department stores keep their pallets. Old mattresses, doors. Old trampolines work good with some tie downs. For a snake, secure barrels together, the big trash can size. Old logs work. Even some half-buried pallets would work. If its stupid and it works, then its not stupid anymore.
Carefull with getting old tires because if you ever want to get rid of them they are kinda hard to get rid of, why do you think they all have thsoe tires sitting behind there sheds.
The guy above me siad he uses old tires, and im geussing from he gets them from a auto shop because they practically give them away. They practically give them away because it costs allot to get rid of them and its hard to find someone to take them so im telling people be wary because if you get the tires but then you want to get rid of them (maybe because you parents dont want them around or your moving)Its a pain because it costs an arm and a leg to get them disposed of or its hard to find someone to take them.
I mentioned it before. I had soem left over from when we built a shed. Its really loud and can tip over, otherwise i like sheet metal, makes teh game more fun.
i use blue barrels that came from my uncles carpet cleaning business. Dont know where else you can find those. We also used old tires, tables, a sofa, palets, doors, plywood, we had old shelves that my friend got from models cuz they were getting rid of them, we even used a small boat.
We also used dirt. We also tried making bunkers out of planks we made frames out of then stapled chicken coop wire to it and my frined had a material that we covered it with. It didnt work out, the material wasnt strong enough. It was a cool idea though we even had a dorito.
Try the pcv tubing idea. Make rectangular bunkers with upside down T's on the end for feet so they can stand on there own. Get some heavy mil black plastic from the hardware store and roll it around the edges of the frame. Use duct tape on seams. Make a tube out of the plastic for the pcv frame to slide thru. Knotch the corners so you can dis-assemble it and store it when not in use. If they start to want to fall over drill holes in the feet and stake it to the ground with house gutter nails.
Each bunker should cost around 10 bucks. They will be real easy to clean too. Just hose it off before you put them away. If you and your buddies make them, you should set a standard upright height of lets say 4ft and if you all make them from the same size tubing, you can link them together. It just depends on the elbow pieces you can find.
Thats a pretty good idea. But just to mention something, The pvc has to be the heavyer duty stuff, We had a pvc frame made out of the weaker stuff and it didn't hold up at all.

Speaking of boats, my group did a DDay thing were we charged the other side of a pond with canoes. We also built a 10' high pillbox w/ tower. This year we're getting a pontoon and a making another tower with a bridge that connects the two.

It was a little smaller, like 4x4 frame (just a square)(2 of them, made w/ 2x4s) with 5 foot 2x4 connectors built on the inside of the frames. Screw the plywood onto the connectors, then put 2 sheets of plywood on top (it gives a bunch of strength if your putting a tower on) and then a cross type of thing inside and on the roof. Its pretty simple and we can build one in about 1 or 2 weeks. The tower is the same thing incept you cut the plywood different so it looks like a castle. They hold up well, we have put about 300 lbs up there and it holds just fine. All you need is a ladder to get to the top, and then just cut doors out and out them on hinges. Modify it with whatever you want, carefull though as it gets heavy with too much stuff on it.
Well today it's snowing in Virginia, so there's nobody at the construction site. I'm going to go over to a construction site across the street to borrow some plywood..
Also, evolkers, can you post pics of the pillbox? I'm pretty interested...

Maybe, i may bring a camera to school and maybe take some pics while we are buidling it. If anything i can take some pics of the old one. Lol, we didnt get the wood in till today, so the last week we have been building a scaled down model in shop class. I cant get to it till monday though when school starts.
