Need help with wood ball gun
Hi,
I'm new to the forums and i'm not sure how everything works or where i'm supposed to post but i'd appreciate any help anyone can offer me with my problem.
I played paintball for roughly 4 years and I took a 2 year abscence for college and work. I now have more time to play and i'm curious as to what new guns are on the market and which one is the best for woods ball.
Before I shot a Tippman 98 with a flatline and I want to try something different this time. I was looking at ions and some 200-300 dollar spyders but i'm not sure if therye suitable for woods ball or not. If anyone can offer me any help i'd greatly appreciate it.

any Marker will be good in woods.
Ions are definately good markers, if you can maintain them. If you're good enough to understand electopneumatics, then go for it.
If you're a little scared using this, then you should consider a spyder VS2. They are really nice, shoot almost as good as Ions, and are really easy to use. I have one and I really love it.
Check in my sig for more info on spyder VS2.

Alright man thanks, the ions look intersting but I've been out of the game for awhile so i'll probably stick with something more familiar to me. I'll definitely check out the spyder that you mentioned.

OMG, are you serious? The VS2 is lighter, runs at a lower psi (thanks to the balance valve), has eyes, and is made better. The VS serious absolutely slaughters the MRs/

The only MR comparable to VS series is the MR3. It is the only one that have eyes, but it is more expensive that the VS2, and is still a normal blowback (not low pressure). Yes, mil-sim has a cost.

I live in a fairly rural area and the nearest decent paintball field is 2 to 3 hours away so most of my play consists of local woods ball with my friends. I like what i've seen with the Vs2 but i'm also considering an A-5. I think it may be more durable for the punishment my gun is going to endure. So my question is, how tough and durable is the Spyder Vs2? How heavy is and what is it primarily made out of? I'd appreciate any feedback, thanks.

Primary made of aluminium, it is though and reliable, but you have to take care of it. Also since it got an electronic trigger, forget about sinking it in water...
If you think you'll be though with your marker, then I would not recommend the VS2. Check for mech spyders (Sonix, Xtra, MR1), Tippmann A-5, or a Tippmann 98 custom.

Psh, the VS2 will be tough enough for any punishment (other than submerging it in water). The performance over the A-5 though will be a ton. Im not sure what you mean by punishment though, what did you have in mind? I have no doubt the spyder can stand up to it but im curious as to what you are doing where you have to worry about damaging a solid block of aluminum?

And you have to dish out extra dough for a compressed air tank, and has a lot harder maintenance. Trust me, i owned and Ion for the last couple years, and i have a cousin who owns a VS2. The VS series is a new, fresh start for spyder. The Ion can get a little complicated sometime for new people. Im sure a lot of newbs dont know what dwell or ROF is, so on a pre-set spyder they dont have to worry about that until they get more into the game and can actually learn about that. I agree, a Ion will be better, and if he can afford that and an air tank, plus he plays at a field where he gets all day air, then get the Ion. It sounds like he may just be playing renegade ball and you should pry use CO2 for that, cause your air tank will run out fairly fast.

I'm not real rough with my guns but I just wanted to make sure that it would last if I bought one. I've had a Tippmann 98 for 4 years and even though I cleaned it regularly , you could still tell that it had taken some wear over time. Thanks for all of the feedback guys I really appreciate it.
Also I was under the impression that the Vs2 had to run off of compressed air also. Will I be able to use Co2 if I buy one?

I have access to nitrogen/compressed air so if doesn't take Co2 that wouldnt be a problem. Also, is there a large difference betwween the Vs1 and Vs2, if there isn't i'd rahter get the Vs1 and buy some new goggles with the extra money. What would you guys do?

i think if you get the vs1 you would be fine cause you can get it with eyes. walmarts in the staes and canada carry vs1s with the eye.
Yea ions blow without the virtue and they expensive for what you get stock.

Ions dont blow without the virtue. They are more or less like the vs2. It really depends on your preference. I mean vs2s are good and ions are good. Depends on what you prefer.
