Well thats what i meant buy over priced. The stocks cost way too much for what their giving you.
Stocks are just fashion accessories I can think of plenty of reasons to rag on a marker but I wouldn't use the price of the after market dress up parts in that criteria. For example I hate the stupid clamshell design of the A5 and I can't stand the low quality parts in Tippmann markers. Spyders...well don't even get me started...
What do you expect for $150? My Blazer is worth around $700 it is just a mech semi I wouldn't call it overpriced but to plenty of other players I should have just bought a used DM or Ego. Paintball gives a lot of room for players to pick and choose the gear they like best and find most comfortable to use and it doesn't have to make sense to anyone else.
palmer pursuit shop is by far better than anything sp puts out but you pay the price for the made in usa sticker!
what is your blazer capped @ $700 for a hand crafted marker is a little on the cheap side in all fairness most pre 2000 wgp cockers sold for no less $1000
Yep and those pre2K cockers are selling for a couple of hundred dollars now while PPS can still charge whatever they want for their stuff and people are happy to wait four months to get it.
I am quitting Speedball and moving on to woodsball. Speedball involves too much money and i cant afford it no more. But i am going to do woodsball because its still fun and exiting.
Anyway, i am going to sell my ion and going to buy a woodsball gun.
I am going to buy a Tippman A-5, i have looked at this gun and found out its exellent. Does anybody have any other suggestions of a woodsball gun besides a PMR?
If you are going to play woodsball I would keep your Ion and look at a Longbow/Qbow system for it. This system converts your Ion into a "sniper".
Keep the Ion, tune it to be in sync with it's regs, lube O-rings frequently. I highly doubt it's the marker, 9/10 marker breakdowns(Especially Ions) are user error.

What do you mean by that? I have had a Smart Parts Ion for a while and have not had any problems with it. No breakdowns, no chops, no nothing. The only problem I have with it is the stock board does not tell you when the battery is too low to work the gun.
It's pretty self explanatory. Set the dwell and everything back to stock, then tune it to optimization, then put your reg in at around 270 fps. If it is inconsistent up your dwell a little and lower your input pressure to compensate.

If you have the money invested in a gun why buy another? There is no real woodsball gun, all this talk about tippmanns being to expensive is crap! Sure if you buy new your gonna pay. I have 3 98 Customs and less than $300 in all with all the upgrades, I tried different things with each one, expansion chamber, low pressure chamber, spring kits, stocks, and so on. Buy used, e-bay is the ticket. I've learned a lot by working on markers myself. Hook up with ur local shop for when you need help.
Here listen to an ACTUAL A-5 owner, Buy one and then pimp it out, they own and the older ones are unbreakable. Tippmanns can take on anything, I know a guy with an A-5 who shaved his double trigger and he can get off 15 bps. Anyways anything but Tippmann look like little shiny toys....

do not "pimp it out". waste of time and money. just use the a5 till you realize that there are way better mechs out there. and some of the other guns may look like "shiny toys", but they are way better in every way.

O Rly?
Writing off anything other than a Tippmann as being a shiny toy is missing the point entirely. Paintball isn't war and paintball markers work best when they are built to be paintball markers. Having your marker weigh 15lbs to look like a Barrett sniper rifle doesn't make your shots fly any straighter or further. It is far better to give up the paramilitary look and have the most functional marker possible to play paintball. If you like the military look that is fine some people just roll like that but those shiny toys are 100% built for maximum performance. Your friends Tippmann may be able to rip 15bps with some modification but the space gun looking toys do that out of the box and with some slight tinkering and practice can easily break the 15bps mark. That is the biggest difference Tippmanns can shoot ropes of paint with a lot of work and money but the speedball markers are built from day one to do it and that is one reason why so many speedball players and veteran players are unimpressed with a pimped out Tippmann. It's like comparing riced out Civics to a Formula 1 car sure its faster than stock but so what?
Well of course you don't want to buy those heavy shrouds to make em look all cool and what not. In fact I'm planning on getting one of those "shiny toys" for speedball. Your missing the point though, hes looking for a WOODSBALL gun. I've played woodsball all of my life and I know that the last thing you need is a shiny little machine gun. In woodsball the point in most games is camo up and make tactical precise movements to your objective. I cant tell you all the times I'm with my team, moving up on the other team, and then I see a red or green marker totally sticking out like a sore thumb. That guy didn't last long as my teammates were moving right up on him and before he knew it, he was out. Also unless you have Marbilizer Paintballs, those hundreds of balls are just goin to break on branches and leaves. The reason why Tippmanns are so good is that you get a Woodsball gun right out of the box. No money is wasted on ball wasting. But of course this works both ways, cause I've played against Speedball markers with my Tippmann and I got owned. The point is, Different guns are for different situations.

Who says you have to waste paint just because your marker is fast you do know they can shoot slower right? It is the person on the trigger that makes a marker a paint waster not the marker itself.
this has to be the most redundant thread ever...its like rawr! "screw tippmanns!" then the obligatory follow up with "**** spiders!"...then there is always someone that just pops in to say hey keep your Ion lol. I sense a pattern here.
