PMR has plenty of upgrades, go look on ebay

the most common upgrades to the pmr are the feedneck, trigger and metal back caps, nothing real special, nothing you wouldnt upgrade on any marker

the only thing people seem to think the PMR really needs is a new feedneck, the back caps that come stock are plastic, and while a lot of people complain that they are fragile and will break i have yet to come across a single first hand account of someone breaking them (its always "i have a friend who knows a guy who broke them") Triggers are compleatly personal preference.

pmr's only advantage, it's elecropneumatic, is also it's weakness. There is no air-noid to blow on an SLG.

The use fo a mechanical sear does not make the gun anywhere near similar to a spyder. It most closely resembles the automag in it's blow forward function.

SLG can be had for 150 used. PMRs are also a great choice for a beginner.

For someone looking to get out of a spyder and into a mid-end electro i'd suggest you look at used guns made in 05-06. things like fusions, promasters, PMR, PM5, alias, infamous timmys, and even b2k4s. they'll all shoot paint, you just have to decide what you like. If I were you, I'd go to the local shop and ask to handle as many as possible to find the right fit. If you see a player with something you'd like to try, ask if you can shoot a few of YOUR paintballs through it at the chrono bench. Do some homework and get a good idea of what you're looking for. Also, ask yourself what you NEED and what you WANT in a marker going into the future. Set out a list of desired features and narrow the field based on that. Good luck, and happy hunting.
