Hey guys, im going down to Fox4 paintball in Massachusetts to see if I can get a job working there,(ref) any tips? I need to get a job, and this is my 1st choice.
Here are a few thing to remember. Refs are there to keep everyone safe, make sure they are having fun, and be ready to deal with almost any situation that might happen on and off the field.
With that I got a small quiz for you
1. What are the 3 most important rules at any park or field?
2. If team A is advancing onto Team B, Who do you pay more attention to or are more likely to call out.
3. And should a Ref be in one place or keep moving on the field?
Lets see here
1.
a. Make sure goggles are on
b. Don't stack teams
c. ummmm Don't tolerate any fights?
2. Well, you shouldnt really paying any attention to anyone (gives position away), but i would look for team a, cuz team b is being a bunch of camping b*(#hes
3. Always moving to make sure no paint is wiped

how did i do?
Close but not quite, you were thinking like a player does
Here are the correct answers
1) A. IF your on the field or out side the staging area then you mask should be on (you got this one)
B. Barrel Blockers need to stay on till Me or my other ref tells you to taken off before the game, and check to make sure they are on before you leave the field.
C. Make sure you players are having fun cause a happy player will come back to the park.
2) The attackers you should pay more attention to. This is because most injuries happen while players are trying to move up on an area. Also the players defending are not as likely to get hit cause they are not try to move up.
At the same time though you should not ignore the defenders and be ready to step between the atackers should the defenders get overwhelmed or want to call them selves out.
3) Keep moving, unless your reffing a tournament Wiping is the least of your worries. As your moving your trying to keep track of how the game is progressing, watching out for any players that are being to aggressive, and making sure that your players are still playing safely.
Generally at the park I work at we have at least 2 refs with most groups. 1 head ref(red shirt)and a basic ref (yellow shirt). should we get more then 100 players in a group then we start adding more basic refs to the group.
As for our locations on the field we tend to each be at one of the starting point when the game starts. Then once the game starts we each move to a different side of the field so the we can both watch the players. This means that both refs are now between the 2 sides as they move up. So expect to get hit at least once during your day of work.
yea, i refereed once for a couple games for 20 bucks cuz the guy went on a smoke break. last game, i got caught in the nuts. note to self, never stand out of cover when paint checking
