yeah, i used hot soapy water and as you said lightly stroked it up and down and it worked perfectly! its like a mirror bore shine, no scratches thought. but whatever floats your boat. however if your have a higher end barrel i dont recommend it.

I tend to shoot higher end barrels and i have multiple types of squegees so i can get different problems out of my barrel
