and if you have the means to buy some knee and elbow pads it makes crawling easier and diving/sliding less abusize, and yes always wear long pants and gloves i got nettles onse on my hands and it sucks! watch where you place your steps plan every step and balance is very important lose your balance while stalking, because isyou fall...they hear you you have to get up and find cover fast. also dont just sit there move around dont let the enemy find you find them and sitting there and waiting is boring. and yeah fireworks and rocks make great distractions also set up decoys we did that once and we had 2 masks by bunkers with players also in the bunker and they got smoked! also if you want to use a grenade get bannana or wet willie grenades they work best they paint a lot of area too we dropped one in my freidns tailgate in his truck and it was all green lol

i shoot with 350 when we go on this large field thats like empty and 2x to 3x a football field.... its crazy and still hard to hit ppl....

anyway i always bring papers and stupid things like toys and stuff on the field that i dont care about.....not jus for when im bored but i toss one or 2 of them in a good spot away from me....since the masks limit your vision, they look that way most of the time.... and im on the other side of a bunker waiting for hopfully all of them to pass....

once they saw me cuz the bush didnt hide me well, and got owned... and another time i didnt think there were that many players... got a couple and then got hit like a mutha from behind...

don't worry about getting hit. have fun. it's not a tourney. improvise, try new stuff on the spot. go rambo or move like a cat's shadow. 1/2 a hopper or 5 pods, it's up to you. move slow when you are not seen. look for people, and where you don't see anyone, ask why? is it because it is a bad spot, or because it is hiding someone. expect the unexpected.

If you new to the game..Take it slow and just watch some of the other players on your team. The best way is to learn from your fellow teammates. Through all of the hype of the game you might just want to run up there and shoot as many moving things as possible. But just take it slow and be sneaky and quiet...the whole name of the game is a waiting game.

wow, maybe i have this all wrong lol. in my opinion it is easiest for me to be aggresive ans go find you. i never stay in one spot, and when im spotted i use good aim, run fast and duck quickly. to me waiting behind a rock for four hours to be sneaky... no good my friend. But everyone has their own techniques, and people learn and know what works best for them

i am really agressive. Hell most people that have seen me play say that i mix speedball in with woodsball, even though all i usually play is mil-sim and woodsball. oddly enough i dont waste hardly any paint.

What kind of tactics do you suggest for small teams such as 2-4 players per team?? Most of the time we try to stay pretty close together unless the opponents split up, and then 1 or 2 people are sent out to try to pick off that guy. Thanks!

[quote=D_Smalls]Woodsball Tip/Tactics

Lets start with before you even play…

Camouflage

-Buy camo. It actually really does help. Make sure you get some good camo though. If you buy just some cheap stuff from Wal-Mart don’t be surprised that after a couple washes it will be faded and not near as a good. Look for maybe some hunting camo or some actual military camo. Should be able to find it at any army surplus store. Be warned though the actual military stuff is really thick and damn hot. Also get camo that matches where you are. If you are playing in the summer or spring get some camo with a lot of green in it. In winter get the one with white and grey shades, and then in fall get the brown and orange ones. (Orange as in tree leave orange)
-Don’t just buy camo pants and shirt.. Try and camo up your marker, a brightly coloured speedball marker is going to get you spotted. Get some camo tape or camo fabric to put over. If you gun is black, it should be fine. Except in winter. In the winter I would just rig up some old white socks into some thing I can slip onto the gun. Works fine.
-Don’t forget about shoes. A pair of white sneakers kind of defeats the point of wearing camo.. Get some long pants and maybe put them over, make sure you won’t trip though.
-Mask, most masks are black. Not bad, you can get camo things to put on your mask though. And keep your visor on. Not only does it keep the sun out of your eyes but also it helps prevent sun from hitting you lens and reflecting. (reflecting goggles is a good way to find people)

im sry but the guy who said that camo is important, is a bit of a dip. most good camo out there that isnt worthless, is kinda expensive, and even if you do camo up everything it isnt gonna help much. plus the only time you use camo is when your playing woodsball, which would be rec ball or just screwing around with your friends. no need to spend extra when you just screwing around.
in my opinion, camo is highly over rated and is not needed at all unless you get camo everything and get some bush to help. and that would require getting the gun camo and all that annoying work that isnt needed.
(i posted this partly cuz i needed to kind of vent, had a bad day) anyways, hope some people find this helpful

ummmm...

"plus the only time you use camo is when your playing woodsball, which would be rec ball or just screwing around with your friends. no need to spend extra when you just screwing around."

the title of the thread is "woodsball tips/tactics", not "speedball tips/tactics" or any other form of playing, this is a thread for woodsball, in which camo is useful. you wanna play me in woodsball with me in my guillie and you in a bright orange tank shirt with red pants and orange shoes go ahead, theres a big diff, depending on your play style...ive had games where i HAVE actualy worn a bright green poncho and blue jeans, but well i was trying to be a distraction and play wild and ballsy that game.

emphasis on this part of what you said "no need to spend extra when you just screwing around"...a lot of us only play woodsball, its all i really play, its really fun and a totaly diffrent scene, plus it helps a lot of my friends who are just starting out and have 100$ or less spiders to work with. woodsball isnt as much marker dependant as say speedball. not everyones a tourney junky(not that its a bad thing, i think itd be fun to try and me and 2 buddies are gonna try some 3 man tournies this summer), so casual ball is what we need to invest our money in.

One good tactic is flanking your opponents by having your noobs stay back and hide behind ONE FREAKING BUNKER!!! (this actually happend). 2 of you more experienced players flank by giving one player covering fire while the other moves in and then the other does like wise. We literally beat the WHOLE team that way ( 5vs5 ) except for like 1.

well looks like everyoen is just repeating what everyone is saying lol not much to go over after you cover everything but i will review everyones!

- Flank

- Stay low, and if you get caught off gaurd and paintballs flying at you and you dont see the enemy...hit the ground until u can locate them then find cover.

-Stealth, Quiet, sneakyness is the key, take your time....stay hidden until you know you can make the shot...paitience is the key.

-Camo up, dark colors and wear anything you can to stay hidden the best as possiable...its a small thing that can help a LITTLE or ALOT somtimes just depends on the conditions. Some say its not needed and it isnt but do the best you can it really is a small thing you can do to make a small or big diffrence!

-Cover fire with your teams to move around, working with your team, leap frogging, are the best ways to advance head on to a team.

I've seen people wear all black or just some olive drab coveralls. They blend in super well. Sometimes better than certain types of camo.

i have been going to a friends place to go paintballing and it is basically a big football sized field that has a little stream running down one side of it. you can get to the other side of the stream on one end of the field. the field is full of weeds that are like 5 feet and taller. what should my tactics be on this field? i have been getting on the other side of the stream and getting on the bank and then finding people and shooting them. but i can only use this when i am on one end of the field. but what should i do in the weeds? lay down and wait til i hear something or should i just walk towards them? i have been wearing a camo hat, shirt and pants.
thanks

Use the weeds and grass to your advantage, hide and move in them. The stream should be a great place to move around being that its low ground, it should let you be able to go from one side of the course to the other if the conditions are right. But be carefull cause you can alway accidently run into people in ether the stream or the weeds. If you find someone, and they do not know you are there, do not shoot until you have a clear shot. The woods are the only place where detail will kill rate of fire. And yes camo does help even if your not hiding it helps, camo is not designed to make you invisable, its made to blend you in with the surroundings so the human eye is not drawn as easily to the differences of you and your surroundings.

One thing i can add is the use of insect repellant. When my friends and i play in the woods around my house the mosquitos are so thick it's crazy. A good insect repellant will remedy this problem, it's much easier to stay hidden when your not swatting at bugs.

should i move very quickly threw the weeds? it is pretty loud when i try and manuever threw them. i was thinking about moving very quickly when i move and then stopping for a little while and then move again until i find someone. is this a good idea or should i just move slowly and wait for people to come to me? also the stream is a foot or 2 deep so we really dont walk threw it.
