Ok, Rellik. Do I take your meaning that you think it is ok to overshoot your target? (hitting them with WAY more paint than is needed for a hit, ie. one paintball break)
It is one thing to send out a rope of paint and a guy runs into to it and stays still to take all of that paint. It is quite mean to find it funny to hit someone with a rope of paint or take plesure from their pain. It's a game last time I checked and should be fun without guys on the field finding it amusing to hit a target with 20 balls at once instead of 1.
If accdental or incendental extra hits then that might be unavoidable. If on purpose or thinking it is funny or cool, that my friend is just plain mean and not acceptable in this sport. If anyone at the field I play at keeps overshooting a target they get booted and suspended for a time.
No one shoud "lol" over roping a guy with 20 paintballs! EVER!
This is why I have concerns on were this sport might be headding. I have grave concerns that new players to this fine sport are loosing sight of why we play in the first place. Geez, can we please go back to just having fun with the sport with out taking pleasure in "having someone run into a line of paint"?
'Rellik', if I have missunderstood what you ment then I am sorry. My point is still valid and I have seen this at my own local fields. It is just we don't tollerate those kind of players at our games if they do it delibratly.
As you can tell this is a frustrating subject for me. I saw a kid playing his first game get nailed by about 6 paintballs in one strike and he never came back becasue he thought that's how the game is played. The rope of paint came from the only player on the other team who had a electro speedball marker.(who was also in his first game but he had rich parents that, I am not kidding here, bought him a brand new DM5 for his birthday last month!)
Maybe new players should start with rentals....even if they are rich....
-Pezzer *rant over*
Ah, I see how you could misunderstand me. When I am talking about a line of paint, I'm just mentioning a situation that a back player is in on the break...where he shoots a line in front of a player with hopes that the player would run into it.
Also, if I can't see a guy too well but I think I hit him, I will sometimes hesitate to shoot until he sets his gun down or calls himself out.
HOWEVER, I'm against deliberate bonus balling but accidental bonus balling is..well..accidental..crying over spilt milk, ya know?

whew, good....I was hoping I missunderstood you Rellik.
Yes, accidental bonus balls are just that and most know and will call out "hey sorry dude, didn't mean to bonus you like that". Yeah, a guy lit me up with about 5 balls a couple of weeks ago when I played. I ran smack into a "line of paint" like you said. He had figured which bunker I was going for (I zig-zaged and everything, must have been a lucky guess) and there was a rope of paint waiting for me near the bunker.
No major brusing as most of the hits were on my mask and upper body were I had the most protection. He was sweating me cuz I'm twice his size and about 3 times his age. He though this old man was going to lecture him on overshooting or somthing because he say my rental and thought I was a total noob (kinda am concidering this was my first game in years, lol). He was sporting a DM4 or 5 and let me empty a hopper at the target range. Wow, those things are nice. Not nice enough to spend $1200 over a $500 mag but still shot nice.
great thread Alpha, it's kool to read about sniping and sh*t, but i side with bubbahotep on this one, [last post on first page] ppl who call them selfs snipers, are just plain nubs. everytime i hear someone say that i just laugh. great thread tho man.
sorry but you are half worng about sniping a 21 in barrel is a waste it takes to much air to move the ball out of the barrel because as every one knows a barrel is better then zero because when the ball is released the ball is liquid hollow(hollow but full of liquid) this causes the ball to form around the bolt wicth is not perfectly strightthis causes an un even ballence and it litly fits the side of the barrel witch causes it to lose momethem and direction forces f(friction)+f2(force)=c(courve) so a 21 in barrel waste even if honed -to grater= .64 to .68 so a with shooting a paintball without a barrel curves in 1.45 sec with is most angle cocker shocker then use a 14.5 other guns tippman spyder ext use mor fource cause they su@# curves in about 1.274 so use a bareel like 13 if you can find one or a 12.5 stock is 10 in(spyder parrana) tippman(9 in) so alpha you are kind off wornge and right at the same time
i've seen the special ops longbow before in pb mags. i always dismissed it but once i read up on it it seems pretty viable, it is as close to a paintball sniper gun as you're ever going to get.

Your an idiot. I have no idea WHAT you just said. You might as well write it in kingon.
Are you saying 21 inch barrels are useless? Your correct. They are.
The shorter the barrel, the better. Anything under 8 inches is riddiculous.
You get accuraccy from paint to barrel match. Period. Paint to barrel match, and paint and barrel quality. Nothing more nothing less.
By using periods and paragraph breaks, you can organize your posts in a manor that makes it much easier to udnerstand. By using correct grammar, you can ensure that we know where a sentence stops and where a new one begins.
A longer barrel puts more friction on the paintball which causes drag. Therefore, you need to increase the velocity to get the paintball going at the same muzzle velocity.
to be able to hit what you are aiming for 2 things need to happen
1- your paint has to match the barrel bore so that there is the smoothest possible shot with as little friction as possible.
2- your paint has to be in good condition for the same reasons as above
3- your gun has to be consistent. meaning, if you take the same exact shot twice, the ball should hit the same exact spot in both cases. If your gun is inconsistent, it is impossible to predict where your ball will land.
As you can imagine, its almost impossible to have these ideal conditions, and that is one of the reasons there is no sniping in paintball.
