im always hearing beginner players being told if they want to play woods then get a tippy, but why do this if other guns like spyders are the same thing but with higher bps and smaller profile? is it because of durability or what?

I prefer my Pro/Carbine for woods because of the accuracy and durability. PS: This should have been in Rec Ball forum.

actually a spyder in my opinion is much more accurate the the pro carb, my friend has a stock compact and when he switched to the procarb he was pissed off my the LACK of accuracy. But yea Spyders and other blow backs can do fine in the woods.

i thin it's becasue the high end guns are more complex and there is therefore a greater chance of thing's going wrong. There's no guarentee that you're gon a be able to fix a high end gun in the woods so the lower tech you go the better. To a point anyway.

Also guns with a high rate of fire are gonna burn up your wallet faster. Consider that a senario might last 18 hours. That's gonna be a ***t load of paint if you have a high rate of fire

Spyders aren't that complex, I wouldn't think. Surely not as complex as a Cocker, and cockers do great in woods, better then most flatlined Tipps.

I happen to like spyders better than tippmans.....i owned a tippman first then moved to my AMG. tippmans catch phrase is the most customizable marker in the world...but in order to get it up to par with say...and electro spyder...you would be better off to just buy the spyder....its cheaper or right on the money....plus....the spyder is smaller and mine is just as durable as the tippman i had.

exactly. the e-grip frame is the only thing on most spyders that are really complex; i recently got my cocker, and it's got soooo many parts. i dunno how to do anything with it 0?

take a spyder and run through the woods til u trip and drop it on a rock, then beat it against a few trees, dip it in some water, then try to continue playing. then u will see while the tippmann is recomenned for woods play

yes the tippman has such a simple design that even a blind person could take apart and reassmle and even if somehtin was out of place id prolly still work.

yes tippmanns are recommended for woods b/c that is wat most noobs buy and where most noobs play frankly iplove playin w/ my cocker in the woods its tooken a beation a couple times and still works the ram rod is a lil crooked lol.

I don't know, TIPPMAN has been going through some cost cutting in the engineering of its markers. The power tube used to be cast aluminum, therefore it wouldn't crack under some of the roughest abuse. They have recently changed the design to a plastic powere tube. These WILL crack.....I have had to fix a couple of them already this year. You cannot replace the plastic tube with the aluminum tube....it will not fit correctly. Therefore you have to replace the broken piece with another piece of inferior quality plastic.

As far as the accuracy issues, the difference between a spyder and a tipmann marker itself there will be no real difference. There are 2 factors of accuaracy in pball. air consistancy and paint to barrel match. So no spyder vs. tippy will be more "accurate". Though tipmanns are very durable spyders are really reliable. When new players ask me what marker they should get for woodsball/rec ball, I explain the minor differences between the two and it ends up all being prefrence. Spyders and tippys are both good choices for a newbie woodsballer.

when I 1st went to buy my marker last year I had no idea what to buy. I had used a Piranha VL before and I wanted something alittle more accurate and worthy of a LP setup.

So I asked the sales guy at my local shop and he told me that its really just preference. He showed me a Tippy, Spyder, and a few others ... all good starter markers he said but it really came down to what I felt comfortable holding and shooting.

So I chose the spyder. I don't know I liked the way it felt and shot. 0?

Compared to the others ...

I am sure if he handed me a cocker I would have taken that but he knew I had a budget and was just starting in the sport so he didn't recommend I get a gun like that until I know what I liked.

I like my Spyder for woodsball ... maybe you like the Tippy ...

PPL the kick of the gun also affects accuracy dang. lets put it in a realistic view soldiers in the civil wat were advised to always shoot a little lower b/c of the guns recoil. go out w/ a Brass eagle stingray and have the greatest paint to bareel match and conisistency and a cocker w/ the same and i guearantee u will shoot a closer rope w/ the cocker...............Unless u have parkinsons or the yips thats where timmies and karnies come into play lol.

1. if you do all of that in a game your a dip s*** and need to jump off a cliff
2. why the f*** would you beat you gun against a tree
3. why the f*** would you dip your gun in some water
4. why the f*** would you play if your balls are soggy

If you do that with a........
Spyder
-you get a scratch
-your balls are screwed up and swolen and need to be thrown away
-the electronics will mess up (if you have esp or sprint frame)

Tippman
-you scratch your gun

Wow one difference, and thats only if you have an electronic spyder. If i was just starting playing woodsball i would still buy a tippman though only because it can have a flatline put on it though.
