Bubbasr, you are pretty inexperienced with optics, aren't you? You can't simply graze across a field with a 15-20x piece of glass. Since for FOV for a 18x with an OD of 50mm optic at 100 yards is only six and a half feet, it would take you quite a long time to scan for targets 360 degrees. The reason he wants a spotting scope is to make it easier to see. Even 4x with an OD of 1" may be too much under 50 yards at 13' or so. I would not go above 4x in a scanning scope, even with a 100mm OD. And a piece of glass that is 10cm wide at the end is too big for a paintball gun.

Spoken like a true homeless person with a Kalashnikov. I found an 80 dollar 4x that I think I'll enjoy.

actually no I don't know a pile about optics I do know that my nikon scope on my ar15 is crisp as can be at 200 yards. and my spotting scope goes out to 120x and is very good for spotting out grey balls in mounds of white. All im saying. is get a low power spot scope anytime you are just sitting around looking for people you have time to use a spotter scope. You may feel bad ass talking big stuff about what you know on scopes but ill tell you this. Any one who puts even just 80 bucks into a scope for there paintball gun is messed up on there prioritys. I have played alot of woods ball in my days of play and much of it was with a pump. I would never spend more than 40 bucks on a red dot even. As far as using it to locate targets if you have the wide and open an area of play I would be investing in heavy artillary because it sounds like for a person who can't find a field withing 300 miles you sure do have the need for large optics even on a pb gun. Ive owned most every type of gun out and I know that none of them require a 4 times scope in anyway. sure you base it off you want it for spotting but you know your going to try to zero it because you actually believe in your heart that playing socom online and putting a scope on your paintball gun makes you like an army man and you love playing toy soldier. Talk to most any one and they will laugh at you...I remember a thread where you were justifying your military back ground..which was..liking socom playing paintball and being in jrotc oh and showing off your chest to a bunch of dudes. your a joke.

Bubba, don't take it to heart. ITs true though, with a scope that powerful, it won't do the job I'm wanting it to. I just want something so I can see whats up the hill. I dont want to count how many hairs they have on their head.

don't get one at all. spend that 80 bucks on better paint and barrel match so that you don't need extra stuff. anyone who mounts a scope on there gun is wasting weight as well as space. It makes for an expensive mess sooner than later.
don't buy one man...don't do it. Invest in something that is worthwhile...you can buy a full edge kit used for that price. that means perfect match and better accuracy. don't do the whole hype with armotech sniper style its not real.

Lol, Im not doign the hype at all. The hype is to be a super sniper and look through your scope when engauging your people. I am not going to be looking through the scope when I see people. Ill be using it for scenario gamesto see better down the field.
The gun Im getting will have a 2-piece JnJ and Im getting either an evil kit or a pipe, depending on time, mood and money.

jsut one question? I knwo you want it as a spottign scope, but think about it, if you can't see the person with your eyes you can't shoot em. Guns don't shoot that far so i mean if it was a real gun sure but a pb gun only shoots so far. And i mean i personaly wouldn't see a reason for it cause i mean yeah it is just stupid. I know your gonna say im stupid but get real man. I can see people just fine and i don't need a scope to see someone all the way across my field longs way, thats 3 fields long.

Convienience. Not sure abou you, but I'm starting to play in scenario games where there is 14 acres of land all open. Not just 3 fields.

Whoever said if you cant see them with your own eyes you cant shoot them (I didn't bother to look up your name because you are an insignificant being, idiot), you are stupid. I guess you only want to see people you can shoot? What about seeing people far away from you, who cannot see you, and then basing your movement on what you have observed?

yeah i do but 14 arces can be a few miles long or a feet hundred feet, it all depends on the shape of the land. I personly can see someone's movement across a 20 arce farm. So i just think that if you want to see someone fine but why don't you get a good pair of binoculars. a 4x ain't really gonna help you much. I mean a 7x migth work better at a longer distance.

Nikon? I hope thats their tactical series. There are plenty of pieces that have better quality glass. Zeiss, Zwavarski (sp?), Nightforce, U.S. Optic (whoa, big money!), maybe even Leupold or Burris. I sure would like to hear more about your AR-15. Pre or postban? Upper/barrel and lower make? Barrel length? What do you use it for? You probably know very little about firearms (or optics) and just went to your FFL, got some RRA or Bushmaster, stuck a scope on it, and started shooting it at the local range. Am I right?

Yeah, as much as I dislike Alpha I have to agree with him. There is no such thing as a super snipe gun, and you don't need a scope that powerful. Course, if it was me, and I was doing it for scenario ball, I would want to set up a camera and viewing set, with a small bit of zoom on it. Now, before you flame thats too expensive, and I'm a newb for thinking it - it can be done.. But, it'd probably cost as much as a moderately priced gun setup. I'm a mod freak though, and I love to tinker with **** like that so.. yeah, of course I'd go for overcomplicateing it.

heh what ever you say.
you turned somthing from me saying that I didn't see much point behind a scope within the game of paintball. if you wanted to debate on the issue at hand rather than my shooting gear that would be great. The point is Im guessing you are dodging the issue on rather a scope of any kind is usefull in the game I know it is not I am guessing i have been playing slightly longer than you. As well as the fact that I have played both side and know very well that if you ever plan putting a scope sight or any type of glass even red dot I hope you like spending extra time cleaning. You are putting a reflective surface on something that doesn't need it. something that breaks up the gun. Something that doesn't work with the gun because you can't zero it.
don't mess with me. Im sure you feel cool.
as far as my ar. It is just a bushmaster which I say just because I am well aware that there are much nicer firearms out. Still withstanding bushmaster holds about 42percent of the market as far as the ar15 is concerned and thats nothing to be messed with. My personal gun is the vmatch with a 20 inch heavy barrel I have custom on it an lmt enhanced carrier and bolt because I wanted to insure less binds also has high flow gas ports which are moved from the origonal reciever. My nikon is only the monarc ucc nice little 10 times scope good for coyote hunting and target plinking all i do.
The idea was I am going into the army in the next few months and while waiting I wanted something I could get a good feel for. I never claimed to be a hardcore long time marksman. I love to hunt upland bird and will school you in trap most any day with my sbe.
Im going to a gun show this weekend and am hoping to trade off for a buddys preban colt which is not neccisarily nicer BUT it is a colt as well as it has iron sights mine does not. I want to get a better feel for that.

I love it. Piss me off with all that "dont confuse me with things that you know about" then I turn it on you and instantly i'm the bad guy. Fine. I admit i'm at fault here, but only because I fear he might ban me because of personal issues.
