All right, I’ve noticed a large amount of questions surrounding scenarios and what to bring and wear and what not as of late. So I figured why have all these threads when we can just have one to end them all! That I have all night to kill at work.

This is just a general list, nothing special, and nothing says that this list is the almighty list of lists. Just from my viewpoint on this one.

Marker

Ok, to start off there is no best marker, so don’t even bother asking that question. It’s all a matter of opinion really. In my opinion the best marker for a scenario game is undoubtedly a Tippmann. They’re very solid, very tough markers. If you want to make a scenario marker, I suggest picking up a sypder or spyder clone. They’re very cheap and you can very easily mod them to look like the real thing. (In scenario ball that is a good thing guys) Speed isn’t an issue in Scenario ball, so do not worry about electronics and how fast marker X is vs. marker Y. It comes down to skill.

Mask

Something that wont fog!!! Can’t stress that enough. Any mask is a nice choice, since this isn’t airball and you’re not out to win a beauty pageant. Something that allows the maximum vision is the probably your best bet.

Clothes

Anything goes here. It’s best to dress the part if it’s a scenario game, but the basic attire of scenario ballers is woodland BDU’s. This isn’t to say that Jerseys aren’t common either, that is anything but true. Teams that show up to scenario games like to dress alike. It allows their teammates to find them easily, and let others know they belong on a team. Wear whatever you’ll be comfortable in for the longest period of time.

Footwear

Touchy topic again. A lot of people wear boots in paintball. Truth be told, you can’t run all that fast in boots. An old pair of sneakers is your best bet. Boots may add to the look, and provide foot protection, but speed is the most important aspect of paintball, never forget that.

Pods

This is up to you. I’ve seen guys with 2 cases worth of paint in their pods waddling around. Be realistic guys. You aren’t going to live long enough to shoot all that paint, and you’re just making yourself a bigger target. Also if you’re active enough you might bust a ball in you pod making that 150 rounds totally useless. Chances are by the time you shoot two or three hoppers worth of paint, you’re dead. There is just too much going on to really stay alive for that long, unless you’re not aggressive. I carry two pods on me, no more no less. It gives me enough paint to last awhile, but not enough to turn me into a slug.

What kind of supplies should I bring?

· 2 sets of playing clothes
· A lot of socks
· 2 or 3 pairs of shoes
· Paper towels
· Toilet Paper
· Towels
· Food
· A lot of drinks (mainly water and mountain dew)
· A few hats or wraps for your head
· If you’re in a group, walkie talkies

Here are some other tips that I posted before; I’m just reposting them.

· Get a tackle box to store spare parts in. I highly recommend something that uses smaller clear boxes inside the main box it’s self. I mainly use Mag’s and Tippmann’s so I keep a good amount of spare parts in these boxes. Also most of my friends use spyders so I have a section for that stuff too.

· Keep your paint in a safe, not hot place. The problems with summer scenarios are the heat will kill your paint. Keeping your paint locked up in a car that is sitting out in the sun will cause it to dimple a heck of a lot faster. I tend to keep my paint in with the drinks in a cooler. Keeps the temperature low enough so the paint doesn’t get destroyed.

· Record any numbers that are on your marker. If it gets stolen, you can started asking to see people’s serial numbers to make sure that they do not have your marker! Like wise, if people claim that a certain marker is theirs, whip out your proof of ownership and prevent a liar getting a new toy. (Happens more then you think!) I tend to put a mark somewhere on the marker that only I know of. Makes things even easier.

· Bring every tool you could possibly need to use when working on a paintball marker. You never know what you’ll need and when.

· Don’t just stop at tools! Rubbing alcohol is great for cleaning parts of grease and dirt. I use a toothbrush to clean everything, it hits every little nook, which on paintball markers there are a lot of!

· Teflon tape is just as important in paintball as duct tape is to life. Bring both! If you need an elbow, duct tape elbows are magical.

· Gun oil… like I actually had to tell you that.

A few more things after this weekend that I’ve learned about Scenario games. Remember, I’ve only been playing Scenario a year and a half!

1. Keep all your gear in boxes!!! I found that empty paint boxes works the best. This is especially important if you have a smaller car like myself. Believe it or not you can fit a lot of stuff in a box, and that box is a lot easier to store then a duffel bag! Also with boxes you can label what’s inside the box with a marker so you don’t have to go ripping it apart looking for a pair of gloves or something. Duffel bags tend to get messy, and you can never repack them like had done originally.

2. Wear something that will absorb sweat. Sweating was a major issue this year since it was VERY hot out. My friend Gaji was wearing a thin layer of thermal wear and he said it kept him very dry, but not too hot. So I’d recommend something that will soak up sweat and not overheat you on the field.

3. WATER WATER WATER!!! I became so dehydrated that I had to sit out a few hours and just drink water. My head started pounding, I became a little weak in the legs, and I couldn’t stomach food. So do yourself a favor, even if you’re not a water person, pick up a camel pack and save yourself a lot of pain and discomfort. Those things were life savers out there. Two of my friends had them and I would pull the hose off and drink from theirs. Kept them in the game, and put me back in it!

4. Sunscreen, duh. My arms are bright red at the moment, so look like I forgot one major thing there. Kinda self explanatory.

Do the scenario fields let us bring paintball mortar or paintball cannons? Not the monster tippmann stuff, but I built a couple of the alternativepaintball.com scenario weapons and wondered if they are welcome?

yes some fields will let u use them according to the scenario, paint cannons if there is tanks will be allowed and most likely u will have tanks as they are like stars at games, and the mortars maybe.

Is drinking an issue at some of these games? I don't want to sound like a Nazi but one cup of sprite laced with everclear is enough to turn grown men into 3 year olds, and they drive me nuts.

Drinking is a huge issue at every paintball event. You just cant do it. When you're drunk you're going to play worse, and you're going to make some stupid mistakes. If a redneck wants to go play drunk off his ars then there is nothing you can really do about it unless you see him drunk and report him to the staff of the field. You can bet he will be escorted off VERY fast.

Also if guys are being jerks on the field feel free to report them. If the staff is good they will deal with him, or escort them off the field. Paintball isn't a sport for bad sportsmanship, especially scenario play. There is a respect for every player on the field.

since no one else will say it. Gold Bond is a must have for a 24 hour game. out it on saturday, and your good.

WOuld They let a 14 year old play at one of these. and will they care if u sit there and headbang to music while playing on the field (as it end to do in speed ball)

depends on the field the sort of age restrictions they have there, but at 14 you probably can play most places i'd bet. as for music, i think as long as you could hear the ref they'd allow it, but sounds are very important in scenarios, whether hearing commands, footsteps, or that tank thats coming up behind you. personally i'd suggest you to leave the ipod at camp.

at scenarios do you stay at the place voer night. if so what happens if older people like push you around n ****

depends on the length of the scenario whether you spend the night or not. usually if you do its not out in the field but back in a campsite outside of the playing area.

as for people pushing you around, i've never heard of it happening really. scenario people are usually pretty good. sure, theres exceptions to every rule, but overall its like a big family. if you do have problems you can talk to the coordinator, they'll take care of it.

Great tips and list of what u need right there, i think im going to get a tackle box and fill my handy dandy paintball tools with it cuz its so hard to dig in my Paintball bag and find the tool i want...no matter how organized i try to be with a duffle bag

Also when playing woodsball i always get soaked in sweat, my shirt is drinched when we take a break, so i found Underarmor useful.
Its really tight on ur body and you can wear it under anything, makesure u get the warm gear tho if ur playing in the summer thats the kind that keeps you cool and soaks up your sweat, i also have a pear of cold gear underarmor that keeps you warm and soaks up your sweat too.
Its kinda expensive though right now like 50 bucks a piece but its defintly worth it...and you can use it for anysport really, my whole baseball team wears them and they are really nice for snowboarding.

hey im going to a scenario ina few days thats over night all weekend. i wanted to know, ive been having problems with people waking us all up at 3 oclock, and then keep on screaming till the morning. i talked to the owner and he said its just scenario fun. any suggestions? when the game starts im falling over.
