It certainly did happen, on 3-4 Oct 1993, and Clinton pulled us right out after Durant was captured alive and Shughart's mutilation was captured on tape and broadcast to the world.
The following is a poem (written by an anonymous writer) about those two dreadful days.

Black Hawk Down
Anonymous

"Black Hawk Down!" across the net came the cry
A wisp from the ground brought fire to sky
Two hundred heads turned in that moment so clear
Yet not a first thought their own lives' fear.

Pilot, soldier, sailor, crew
Hell's fire below meant nothing to you
Yet into the maelstrom only two could leap
Against oppression fury they would reap

I can still see them coughing against the desert sand
Fearing naught, an upraised hand
Gesturing towards the fallen, neither haughty nor proud
They disappeared quickly into the rising cloud

Nothing further could I offer, they doubtless knew
As towards the injured with wings they flew
Through smoke, through fire, and failing light
Two soldiers together entered a selfless night

They gave without asking
A reward never known
They sacrificed freely
And our brother came home.

Thank you.

I hate it when morons bash the presidents actions.. You know the president is not the emperor. He acts as a team along with his advisors and the intelligence community. We went to Somalia to stop genocide.

You know whats funny.. Whats different between the war in Iraq, adn when we went to Somalia?

Two things. The media liked the story. And the people liked it. But thats the same reason anyways.

What do you mean? See? That's the funny thing about it Alpha. It may not always be hte president himself, but he hires a cabinet that thinks like he does. So ok, we're bashing the president. But hey, he's just an idiot like the rest of his cabinet. So hey, we've hit all of them. SO don't call people morons because they bash the president.

I actually get tired of people who say the president is actually doing a good job. Wow is that off. But that's all our opinions.

I do not mean at all to take this thread off course, but Clinton had an agenda with our military--I know of one Chief who brought in paper supplies (including TP) with his own money for his squadron because the CINC (Clinton) decimated the budget. He had his own advisors, and he alone chose the course of actions that took place.

Alpha, I see you aspire to become a Marine in the future--I would like to mention one thing--if possible, whenever you see footage of Clinton egressing from AF1, or in the company of Marines, please look and notice whether or not they salute him, or stare straight ahead.
Then look at W in the same situations--he commands salutes just about every time (For those who are not familiar, we are not required to salute the POTUS, it is an option, and Clinton did not earn nor deserve one).

Sorry to steer this off course.

Back to the BHD scenario. It is interesting, but it should be done in a way to honor those in TF Ranger, the unacknowledged D Boys, and the 10th Mtn Div for finally being allowed to escort... It has only been 11 years, and Bowden's book and the movie helped to bring insight to the nation as to what had happened at the Mog.

Me and my friend have been talking about opening up an urban combat scenario park but we don't have the cash untilo we hit the lottery or hit oil. I think it would be the sick to have a bunch of abandoned buildings and try to clear all of them or try to defend a downed helicopter or disabled LAV. If you ever hear of a park like that built in Mass. let us know cause I will make the migration south to play at that park.
