I am thinking about trading in my trusty yet crappy ACI assassin for an ION, and I was wondering what your major complaints are about the gun, cause I know all the good stuff.

no complaints. it would be easier to be able to access the bolt through the back of the shell. but taking it apart to get to the bolt takes less than a minute anyway. i wish the cap was higher than 17 lol.

and make sure you take the gun apart after every time you play because gun hits cover the inside of the shell and the bolt housing with paint.

^^ people who dont play say that. or maybe your jealous. dunno. but your not uncool if you have an ion. get out of the smart parts forum if your going to be that way.

hes asking people who actually paintball and play with the ion.

im just going by word of the forums, but yes, you are not "uncool" but you are not uber popular at the same time. if u have an ion, u have an ion, just like u have a cocker, spyder, tippy. unless u have ar ealllly cool gun.

but anyways, ion is a good gun, i am about half way saved up for one.

my only complaint is that the manual leaves out key information, and does not do that good of a job explaining anything.

well, i guess i have 2...theres a few stock parts that really suck....the feedneck, and the ASA. the rest (trig, reg, barrel) are all average. and dont need replaced right off the bat...but eventually they do.

you know other than the feedneck being tall i think it works pretty good....well with a revvy anyways.

the ASA would be my only complaint

I think he means the duckbill (the asa that's stock on the ion) sticks ur tank out too far.

u may want to get a rail drop or something similar down the road

Just ions in general arrent as good as SP says they are. They arrent that great stock. But once you get those stock parts upgraded (reg, feedneck, asa) are i think the main ones. You will have a good gun. But yes, get the ion for your gun.

The only things i dont like about mine is it took me awile to figure out how to change the settings. And I dont like the stock duckbill like dudewithatippy said it but your tank to far back. I need to get a drop soon. And I dont like the feedneck it dosent hold my tsa very good. Other than that I love it.

I bought my ion used from a guy who had already made a few upgrades. When I bought it, it had a Smart Parts clamping feedneck, CP roller trigger, and Hybrid contract killer grips. I put the stock grips back on and sold the hybrid grips. I have added a CP regulator, Function rail, Hybrid on/off, and a lucky 15 barrel kit.
I have never felt the stock trigger, so I can't speak to it. There are plenty of upgrades that help performance, but none have to be done immediately. As you have the money, make the changes. Overall, I really like the feel and ability of this marker. It is light weight, very low profile compared to other markers that have a "stacked" look and reasonably simple to break down.
The only things that I don't really like about it are (all minor in my opinion):
1. The on/off button. It is hard to see if bright sunlight, so it is hard to see the blinking to tell if the vision eyes are on or off and if the marker is on or off.
2. There's not an easy way to access the bolt except to break the gun completely down. I'd prefer not to have to take the screws out everytime in order to save the screw heads and keep them from getting stripped out. I have heard that SP is coming out with a body that will allow rear access to the bolt.
3. The owners manual does not have enough illustrations and some of the directions for disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly are not as clear as I would like. If you read through it good, you can figure it out.
4. The vision eye wires seem delicate and they have to be disconnected and reconnected everytime the bolt is accessed. It would be nice to not have to handle this as much just to prevent any accidental damage.

i hate the lil crap, like the stupid trigger, i hate the reg (not cause it sucks, just cause it looks cheap) and i HATE THE STUPID DUCKBILL, man that thing sucks balls

you hate it cuz it looks cheap?..... and when you say "i hate the lil crap" do you mean the whole thing??.............and the trigger is really quite nice once you remove the magnets.

ASA makes gun to long reg isnt that great and feedneck but that can all be uped for 100 bux i think
