What do I have to do

I checked the stickies and I couldnt find my answer. I should be getting an Ion this weekend and i was wondering what I need to do maintenace wise out of the box. For example with a spyder you need to disassemble and oil, plus put a drop in the asa (Sorry Spyders are really the only thing I know). Im assuming that I will have to disassemble and lube but Im not sure what needs to be done with the reg and the 'Noid. I dont have to take the Noid apart do I? What about the reg? Disassemble and lube? The asa? I also know that I need to turn the reg right down before I gas up for the first time.

I also looked through the manual and I could not find what I need to do out of the box.

Thanks a bunch guys

the only thing you really have to do is clean and lube the bolt. Because this is a form of a Spool valve the bolt is the valve. You will want to clean the bolt with a towel or microfiber, lube with dow 33 or slick honey not oil. Also too much lube is a bad thing. Just enough lube to make the orings look wet.

Now for out of the box. I have seen a few that were overlubed from the factory. One of the worsts things you can do to this gun is overlube it. The lube will travel down the tubing and block the barbs or get stuck in the solenoid. So out of the box, I would break it down and lube it up.
If you don't have any good lube, and need an oring kit too, A good friend of mine sells orings and lube on nation. (FallNangel's Oring thread, just tell him I sent you. ) Check out that link for a great supply of what you will need to do routine maintenance.

Mostly, keep it clean, keep it lubed and it will run like a champ for ya.

definately break down and lube the bolt. if you look into the top of the reg once you get it off the marker and you can see "purple goop", then you may want to break it down too. mine was waaayyyy over lubed when i got mine.

and make sure you use the right lube. i ordered some shocker lube...(AKA dow 33) with my gun.

I was refering to the bolt for routine maintenance. but as pup stated check out the reg too. I lube up my regs about every 10 cases or so. and also as he stated Dow 33 is recomended. I like slick honey and lube gel ($3 at radio shack) for moving parts.

Is it safe to use those other lubes Jaggy? I just got back from the field with my Ion and they didnt have the DOW 33 lube. I could order it but if there is something else then that would be better. I also know that SP only says that you need to use DOW33 because it is also their product.

I have been shooting spools for a little while now. (most of the last year) and have tried a few different lubes. While most do about the same, I really like slick honey. my second choice is lube gel, and last is dow. dow isn't bad, but it doesn't last long. also it tends to get "gooped" on when applied.

I have heard reports that slick honey will wear out orings faster... We shall see. I am testing some right now. when in doubt stick with lube gel though. its $3 at radio shack for 2 times more than you can use in a lifetime and its good lube. (teflon based.) ICD recomends it in their guns. (freestyle is the real ION)

hehehe, jaggy's got it..

lube after every day, use only non-runnign lube (no oil) like jaggy stated, dow 33(never ever use 55 on an ion), honey, or lube gel..

i also see that jaggy has jumped on the slick honey band wagon.

I am still "officially testing" but I like it so far. Made a huge difference with my FSPro. later if I get the chance I will line up my lubes and take a pic.
dow 55, dow 33, dye slick lube, slick honey, lube gel, marker oil.
A teammate of mine is on the test batch for blue goo too. we will have reports of that soon enough as well.
