well the new shockers have the nerve board, which basically makes them nerves...except for a few differences...impulses are good guns, but are heavy...ions are more what youre looking for, coming from a silver bullet. it would be a good stepup from your current gun, and they perform pretty well as long as you know how to maintain your stuff.

I would agree with flowbob, your best step now is to get an Ion

Used Ions tend to be overpriced. Try to get a new one, they will run about $285 at proshops and most internet places. I've seen NIB Ions on Ebay for $250 + $9 Shipping.

^out of his price range.
A used imp could be bouth for that price and absolutly rip. Or you could get a ion which will have the better resale.

biased much ?
out of all the smart-parts guns the shocker is the best...
but for you i would recommend a used impulse...yes they are a bit heavy but hey...the difference between heavy and light in paintball is like 2-3 pounds...
you can pick up nice upgraded impulses for around $200
a few days ago i saw one w/ WAS and some nice upgrades for around $230

as for the question posed. best SP gun? I think that could be argued, never and shocker are both nice and different. you should try them out and see which you like better. the ION is a great starter gun that can really perform. The impulse I believe has a little better fit and finish but is heavier. the best advice I can give is try out as many as you can. find out what suits your style of play.

i am a little biased but I will say that I like the impulse more than the Ion.
Granted the impulse does weigh quite a bit more. But if you don't mind the weight, you can get a used or often a new impulse off ebay for like $300 or so and put a WAS board into it and get an insanely fast gun, that is proven to be more reliable than anything else out there. I have one and I will never sell it no matter what other super gat I may buy. It has never let me down once at any tournament or field, only had to replace some ball detents that I wore out. Not to mention you can upgrade the hell out of them. One problem is that the impulse resale is not very good. But the ion is holding strong. The Ion is also getting more and more upgrades everyday. So just shoot both and see what you like. They are both about the same price. But I will tell you that a WAS impulse is loads faster and from my experience fixing them, more reliable than the ion. But take good enough care of any gun and it will take care of you.

if you give me a grand then ya... why not. lol
i guess i will be getting the ion.
but what are some good upgrades to get like im sure the barrel would need a change cause i hear the stock barrels are bad. i have a CP barrel that i used for my silver bullet would that be good? and what kinda hopper, cause right now... i have a gravity feed..... 1BPS! and some sort of psi tank. and.... of course the trigger..
thanks

Well the barrel on your bullet won't fit an ion. But a good buy is a freak jr. kit. It gives you a front, a back and three size inserts. And the reg is not the best, though it is good, a CP reg is definitely a good upgrade. A good CP or New Dezigns roller trigger is a must. You decide what shape of trigger, that is your preference alone. Also a new feedneck is a must if you ever need to switch hoppers quickly. The o-rings suck. And definitely get a QEV for it. Will allow for lower dwell settings and keep your selonoid way cleaner.
If down the road you want to get into more tourney play but don't want to drop a grand on a new gun get the Blackheart board. It is completely tourney ready with lockout modes for ramp and full auto for PSP and X-Ball rules. A must of you play tourneys. And if you don't like the plasti | |
