Ion troubles...again...
So yup, my ion is getting old. Iight, well I just lubed it all up nice and good, and I go to shoot it at around 140 PSI, as I shoot the gauge drops down to 100 PSI and just stays there and I stop shooting and it goes back up to 140 PSI...anyone have any idea what's up?
Also, on ramping, I'm using an EGG and the rate of fire is all the way up. The eyes are on and it's busting balls...like crazy, probably at least 20 out of 150. There is no paint in the breech, just a thick coat of paint on the inside of my barrel.
Help.

Sounds like they are breaking in the barrel
I would break the gun down and lube it up agian. that seems to fix a good number of problems i have had with my ion
as fro the presure drop, it's cause of the reg can only let so much air threw

you may have way too small of a bore size for the paint you're using, and the paintball is actually hitting the barrel.
As for the drop-off, first check if your on-off is screwed all the way in, also try taking the reg apart and see if you over-lubed it, because sometimes it will actually slow it down if you over-lube it.

shootdown sounds like it could be from an under or over lubed reg. Barrel breaks from either paint to large for barrel or detents are worn/hard.

take the gun apart and clean the eyes. if your busting near them then that could be the problem also try just turn the ROF down so that you aren't firing so close to the feeding speed.

As far as the balls breaking in the barrel, you may want to try checking your dwells, as the break could be due to eratic velocity. For instance ball A comes out at about 230, then ball B comes out at about 285, they may actually be colliding with eachother inside the barrel, I have seen this happen with Ions and Matrixes, so you might check that.
Then again, the shootdown does sound like an over or under-lubed reg

The bore size of the paint is bigger than the barrel. That's why you are breaking so many...isn't hard to figure out.
If you have an on/off ASA, make sure you have it turned on all the way. Also make sure the ASA is clean and there is no dirt or anything in the pin valve of the tank. Take apart your regulator, clean it, and lube it back up. Don't put too much lube in there, but put enough in so there isn't a problem. After that, you should be good.
