Thinking of getting a ion..
Since ions are cheap now ($199!) I was thinking about upgrading from a spyder imagine to ion. Now, I'm a little confused on nitrogen/compressed air. Can i just screw this tank in ( http://www.anythingxtreme.com/JAVA-4...3648C1392.aspx) to the ion and start playing or is there anything else i need?
Thanks.

it should be fine however its going to be fairly heavy and you wont get very many shots off of it. if you have the money get a nice CF wrapped one because in the future you will probably upgrade to one of those anyway

thatll work, but like said, itll be heavy, and youll only get like 480 (estimate) shots out of it. if you have all day air, and you can handle the weight, then go for it.

Yeah im kind of tight on money, I may be going to florida so I want a ion to take with me. The fun part will be convincing my mom to actualy let me get it. It was a pain in the ass to convince her to let me get my imagine.
Do you guys think the upgrade is worth it?

It probably is worth it.. But you already have a nicer barrel for your Imagine and you don't have a loader or HPA for a Ion.. I'd probably get a loader then a HPA tank for your Imagine then get the Ion. You'll like your Imagine a lot more with those upgrades also. I tried shooting my backup gun this last weekend with a normal hopper on it and was mortified at how bad it was compared to a electric hopper.

I was going to get the HPA tank with it, and pick up a electric hopper in florida (mom would be pissed if I ordered it online with the ion and HPA tank.. i mean right now its over $300 :|)

Yeah, good luck with that. I have a tough time getting 3 pods and a halo off of my 68/3k on my ion.

then i would suggest buying the things used.
used ion/bushy (thought about bushys?) - bout $200 for an upp'ed one. worth it not to just buy new. trust me.
tank - $40 or so.
halo - $60 or so.
bam, your back to $300.

Yea, with the Ion prices dropping, you can pick up a nicely upp'ed one used now for $200-$250. But it sounds like Mom wouldn't let you buy used, so that's probably out of the question.
Anyway, you'll love an Ion after using an Imagine. I just recently got my Ion and I was shooting an eForce SRT. Major upgrade.
And pizza, sounds like you need to invest in a QEV. Might help with your efficiency problem.

QEV's my next investment after I get a decent rail setup. Then I'm getting Lucky 1,2,3, Virtue, J&J Edge kit, and a Sidewinder reg. Then I'll have a kickass Ion minus the $400 in cosmetics.

Used is kind of out of the question unless its from anythingxtreme.com. I dont have a credit card and I'd rather buy new anyway.

Ok, I'm not going to open another thread so I'll post here.
If I get a ion I think I'll get a New Designz QEV kit for it. How hard would it be to install? My imagine is easy to disasemble though im not familar with a ION.
Thanks.

Watch the ion dissasembly vids, read the manual.
Its not hard, but its delicate.

That tank isn't that heavy... I don't even really notice how much any marker weighs. Unless you go from an a-5 to a angel or something extremely light you won't notice, unless your like 7.

Ok, one more question. I'd rather have steel hose then macroline due to personal preference. I thought about getting 7" of this: http://www.anythingxtreme.com/Stainl...6909C1402.aspx Should I just get 5 instead? Also, would I need anything else to install this steel hose? Thanks.

Well if you are planning on getting it for a ion i think the 7 would be about right cause you don't wan't it to be at a awkward angle. I don't think you would need anything else to put the braided on, but i may be wrong.

Don't worry about the weight difference with a steel tank. Though you should opt for a fiber wrapped, I used a 48/3000 for a year with my Ion just fine.

You don't snap shoot much, do you?
Any steel tank is really heavy...well, heavy for the size. A 48/3000 steel tank will weigh the same if not more than a 68/4500, and holds about half the air.
