Shocker Sport S/F problem

Ok, so I haven't played paintball in a couple of years and a group of us are going to play Saturday. I got out my Shocker Sport S/F, turned on the CO2, and have a problem with the regulator. It seems that it doesn't want to "regulate." There is a leak out of the end of it, where you tighten or loosen it to adjust the pressure, no matter what I set it at. If I hold my finger over it, the pressure will continue to rise until I can't hold my finger on it anymore or the pop-off valve lets the pressure out. It seems to shoot fine, but obviously I can't play with this problem. I've taken the regulator apart and don't see anything that I can't tell is wrong. Any ideas or suggestions on how I can fix this or what I should be looking for?

Thanks,
Andrew

1) Stop using co2.
2) Clean and lubricate the HPR.
3) If it still doesn't stop leaking, rebuild the HPR.

I've always used CO2 on this gun. I use a 68ci carbon fiber tank outfitted for CO2. Never had a problem before plus I can get a lot more shots out of the same size tank using CO2 rather than compressed air. When I tried CA before it didn't seem to refill fast enough. I could try using my 114 ci that I have for my Automag RT but at this point I think it's more of a regulator problem. What would be causing all the air to come out the front like that?

Thanks,
Andrew

A seal has blown somewhere in the reg, probably due to co2 freezing and chewing it up like co2 tends to do to, thus my recommendation to switch to HPA; HPA may get you less shots per CI but it's far more consistent (no pressure fluctuations due to temp. changes) and it's cleaner so it's easier on seals. If you already knew all of this sorry for being repetitious.

I'm not too familiar with the Max flo regulator, but I'm going to guess it's your piston seal that's causing it to leak out the bottom. Try replacing that o-ring.

Here's a guide to the regulator: http://www.zdspb.com/tech/mguide/regs/main_nextreg.html

Thanks for the help. I've actually got the old inline Max-flo regulator but I found the diagram for it on the site you referenced. At the time I got it, everyone (SmartParts too I think) recommended CO2 for it, but that was years ago. I was running HPA on everything else. For right now I'm just gonna stick with CO2 as it would be way too much hassle to switch but if I get back into it I'll probably switch to HPA. Heck, I'll probably get another gun. I can't find any of the Shocker lube that I used to have. What is it similar too or what else can I use? Also, where can I find replacement o-rings? I have an Automag RT parts kit but doubt it will have the correct o-rings.

Thanks again,
Andrew

Alright, got it working. Broken o-ring on the regulator piston. It was extremely brittle. Replaced it and everything seems to be working right, haven't put any paint through it yet though. There seems to be a minor leak somewhere, but I can't hear it so not sure where it's coming from. I turned off the CO2 and the pressure dropped from 170 psi down to 100 over the course of about 20 mins. Doubt this will be much of an issue though. Thanks for all the help.

I didn't read all the way through, I just realized you're talking about the oldschool shoebox shocker. Those are fine to run co2 on. I thought you were talking about the 03 SFT Shockers.
