Your getting a baised oppinion posting in the shocker forum.
but as an owner of BOTH and ion and a shocker, the shocker is a huge improvement over the ion.

i just got my ION like ...3 weeks ago? and its a vast improvement from my Pilot so i'd guess that it would be another Vast improvement on the ION seeing as all the things that are in it compared to the ION. that and many people like the Shocker aswell..but ya this is the Smart Parts Forum so ur gonna get a lot of "Yea Shockers pwnz" but i'd go and ask ur local pro shop or a field that has em to try it out and see if you like it.

it really depends? what upgrades if any do you have in your Ion? You will get a much different feel from each gun, but depending on what up's you have it may not be that much of a performance upgrade.
If we're talking the SFT shocker as opposed to the NXT.
If you are talking about the NXT shocker, I'd say go for it. It will definitely be a performance upgrade over your Ion.

dude, the sft and nxt aren't so different that one could say an ion to an sft is a small upgrade and an ion to nxt is a great one. I've shot an ion and own an sft, and there is a HUGE difference. The nxt really doesnt have that much xtra stuff on it that makes it better, its just got break-beam eyes, and is made of a different metal. (and uses the ion reg)

i just bought the nxt
its not a HUGE upgrade from the sft, mostly looks and break-beam.
An SFT is cheaper these days, and you could find upgrades for cheaper for it.

but the NXT is nice, and the break-beam vision is FLAWLESS. It also has a smoother design, but the new spring operated trigger feels bad compared to that of the SFT, but the trigger frames are interchangable.

No matter what shocker, NXT/SFT, you buy now, it will have a spring trigger (SP's patent ran out....dammit).
Anyways, the shocker is a very nice upgrade from an ion because the single tube platform will be similar to what you are used to. It has a similar feel to it, but is WAY nicer in terms of fit an finish. The shocker NXT or SFT will feel like a more complete, more stable shooting platform with better consistancy, less kick, and just all around nicer. The Ions are amazing guns for the price, but it's not quite a shocker. The shocker is the next step up in spool valves and is truly high-end. I have owned all three Ion, SFT, NXT and I'll say....
If you buy a shocker, spring for the NXT, the break-beam is nice. And all the standard upgrades that now come on it and the frame are something a lot of players put on their shockers anyways. And HE BOLT FTW. It is not a HUGE leap over the shocker, but for $100-$150 more you get all those upgrades you would pay for anyways,
You can't go wrong upgrading from a shocker...
But what do I know, I am a little biased.......lol
I have a BRAND NEW dust silver NXT shocker for sale,
signed by Adam and Bill garner of Smart Parts. $650 OBO! if interested

I'm selling it for BULL, but he hasn't gotten me the gun yet so I can't take pics of it. But yeah it is signed dude. And only had 500 test rounds put through it to get her warmed up...tell chad, he could get ahold of it for way, way cheaper if he wanted it. Can't say how low here but tell him...or you could buy it...he...he. "two NXT's.....f-kin tasty".
sorry for jacking your thread dude Nyarlothep13 doesn't check his PM's, he lives under a rock........lol

Biggest Differences between the NXT and SFT are Breakbeam eyes, body, grip, stronger feedneck threads
Shockers are great guns and can be a big step up from your ion. All you have to do is lube the bolt after you play and lube regulator ever 6-8 cases(uprgrading can eliminate this)
but go down to your field or store and ask to hold and shoot other players guns. See what you like and go from there.

Yeah, they suck so bad that every other team in the pro-circuit is shooting them. You can say "I don't care what the pro's shoot". But when it comes down to it, the pro's shoot what works. And shockers work! Great guns and not cheaply made...I'll be shooting mine forever. Shocker = <3

I dont care for the way there built, nor do i care for the quality level there built to.
The one i have dealt have is not mine, but a friends. He bought the gun with no clue how to care for it, disassemble it etc. After reading the manual and actualy disassembling the gun, im just not crazy about it for a couple of reasons.
A. The thing is a ***** to take apart. I prefer the ego/intimidator style bolt system to the shocker single tube.
B. The gun is just no engineered with toughness in mind. The parts are machined flimsily, and the entire thing is made out of lower grade aluminum.
Its not that i hate them, there not bad guns and i physicaly enjoy playing with the one i have access to, but im just not a fan.
BTW, I have an impulse i picked up to have a goof around gun at the moment(When i got out of PB I sold off everything i had for the most part, then bought the imp for something to puts around with...) Now that im starting to play heavily again, im building a new e-mag based on X-mag lowers and one of RRfireblades half rail's. I guess thats what has spoiled me to high quality guns, AGD has, and still does, always had a reputation for using top quality parts and machining processes.... SP on the other hand...
But yes, I can see why the pro's like them. There light, there fast, there damn fine looking little guns. However, most pro-teams are playing "trade-a-gun" once a year.

i hate sp's customer service too, i've broke my on/off button on the solenoid 3 times and ever time they always just replace it, but it took over a month each time. I had no way to keep track of my gun.
and ya most pros get new guns ever year, but the shocker hasnt changed much from 03-06, but the NXT changed.
ya, not the best material and anno wears off fast.
But really they are not too tough to take apart. But the timmies and egos are way easier. Thats wat i like about open bodied guns

yeah, i refuse to send my gun to SP, ive seen some of the stuff they do to the guns. I just take it to the local shop that does shocker's and they do a good job.
But i dont really know what your talking about with it being a ***** to take apart. With the bolt you just unscrew the guide and slide it out.
