impy question.....

alright. i havent played in some time due to the fact of the ppl i play with got sent to iraq and havent been around for going on what 4 years now. But a bunch of friends bought some guns and wanna get back into it. My question is, i have a stock impy without vision cuz at the time i was gonna upgrade the board, but quit playing before i did anything to it. should i upgrade the board or just say screw it and get a different gun? btw they just put up a field about 5 mins away from my house with 4 fields (3 speed 1 woods) on it including an Air field and most likely what ill play since i love speedball.

PS. current setup is a Stock impy, 12v revy, smart parts drop with CO2 anti siphon( i didnt have a HP Tank cuz the closest place to fill it before the field was like an hour away),

well really its up to you, i JUST replased mine with a dm6, its in the mail right now, i got kinda tired of the size and weight and now its getting harder and harder to find parts anyway, but the good part to that is all the aftermarket parts are really flying down in price. Regardless of what you do i would highly recomend a air tank, the cold co2 is not to good on the reg.

Ill write some more later, i gota work right now (gota pay for paintball somehow)

I'd say replace it with one of the entry/mid grade guns.

personal opinion, i wouldnt replace it with somthing that is a downgrade, maybe an ion but personally id want somthing better, maybe a rail, i was going for the dm5 to replace mine but a bunch of people were telling me that the price difference was so small id be much more happy with the dm6. even though i feel thats a bit of a jump from the impulse, i dont think its money wasted at all, picked up the dm6 for $500 in case you were wondering

but as for upgrading the impulse i cant stress how highly id recomend you get an air tank, ebay is a good place for those, got mine (68/4500) for $90,

heres the upgrades that are on mine, i like it

tape worm, eliminates fsdo (first shot drop off) and allows you to dry fire, i have noticed that it still has a little fsdo if its shooting under about 260 (for a really small field)

no rise clamping feed neck, i would acually recomend one with a little rise, after i put my hopper on i cant pull the bolt pin out becasue it hits the hopper

deralin bolt, very light, no o rings to worry about and reduces kick (fairly cheap from what i remember)

magnetic trigger, awsome, i love it, fully adjustable, the downside is you have to get your trigger frame drilled for it, but i sure am glad i did

and theres always a good barrel, i have a j&j 12" ceramic, kinda wish i had gotten the 14" though.

one more thing, the vision board, go find one, they are great and super simple, just be careful when taking it apart not to damage the contacts, acually i just looked around a bit, i couldnt find the vision board anywhere, pm me, I have a spare, I can get it to you for cheap, i dont have a use for it anymore

I had an eclipse impulse with literally everything you could do to it(tapeworm, rip valve, NDZ internals, W.A.S board, ST feedneck, DW fibur barrel, Max-flo HPR/LPR, trayless frame, dual ball bearing trigger).

A rail would be a perfect jump from one, gets you back into the game and is still a good competitor to the high-end market. Hell I shoot a rail right now. I also would look at a PM6, they will be around the same price and shoot really good.

^^^^ even though i havnt shot a rail myself Iv been under the impression that they are a good step between somthing like an ion and a super high end marker, as for the pm, well i was also looking into the pm6 and pm7 even, i found i could get a pm7 for about the same price as a dm6 but it seemed to me that most people liked the dm better, i was not seeing as many "my gun is broken" comments about the dm over the pm, but what really sealed it for me was i asked a guy who worked at the local shop if he would prefer a dm6 or a pm7 and he said the dm6 hands down

whatever you decide, do all the research you can before hand and MAKE SURE your local shop carries parts for the marker you got or are getting.

thats also one thing you may want to check on, if you can still get parts for the impulse at the local shop

I agree with what he's saying. There is nothing wrong with the gun, it just wouldn't be worth the money to upgrade it even a little.

thats what im thinking, why drop the money into a gun that worth less and less everyday. id never get anything more for it. I agree with everyone who says get a HP tank, but like i said at the time CO2 was my only options. im just holding off on getting one til i decided which marker i wanna pick up. i did just pick up a Halo B w/ rip and V board. now all i need is to decide on a marker and tank. Anyone hear anything bad from an A1? im sure they are gonna drop in price since the buzz is saying the A1 Fly is gonna come out at HB.

Make sure you get a V2 one, or wait and get the A-1 fly.

havnt heard much about those, iv never heard a bad thing about crossfire, and theres a lot of people who will say they are the best tanks/regs on the market, I have a centerflag and the great thing i love about it is there is a on/off on the stem of the reg, its MAYBE an inch longer than a reg without it and it will also bleed out any air thats in the marker when you turn it off, even if i get another tank Ill be keeping this one because of that feture.

If you want a tank reg get a guerrilla myth, but cp/DXS tanks are really good and very very light.

the cp and dxs tanks are so light b/c of the bottles they use. Which is why I'd love to get my hands on a super light bottle and drop half a pound from my setup.

If you're looking at angels they're nice guns. Not the easiest to work on (but not to hard either) and their resale is notorious for dropping really hard.

Hmm didn't know they didn't make a LP tank. I know you can get a LP myth reg, and virtually free as well.
