Looking to upgrade soon from the spyder RS I use now. I hear alot about the ION as being a great marker for the value. And from what I understand the SP1 is just an Ion in a milsim body. You can get the SP1 cheap now I guess because they came out with the GOG G1.

Not alot of serious speedball here most guys use rental gear here because its the same price to play on the field with retal or your own stuff. Electronic spyders are good markers here so anything better would be gravy.

So basically looking at getting one, just looking for some positives and negatives.

Honestly, you'd be better off getting something other than an SP marker. SP is a terrible company, but this isn't the main reason that you should stay away. I'm not 100% sure about the SP-1, but the Ion is a pain in the dick to take apart. It'll take you about 5-10 minutes just to get the bolt out to change an oring, and probably longer to put it back together. Not only that, but the marker is Ion threaded, so if you ever wanted to upgrade to anything other than a Shocker, or a Luxe, you wouldn't be able to use other barrels.

Honestly, this really depends on your budget, and what you already have. If you already have a good mask, hopper, and air tank, then I would recommend getting a Quest. You can find them used for around $200, and it is by far the best marker for the price. If you don't have a good hopper/mask/air tank yet, I would suggest buying one of those first.

SP1 isn't quite a milsim Ion. It is easy to work on, has a low force bolt as a good anti-chop system and it handles CO2 just fine. Gog will still service the SP1 and by all accounts their service and support is pretty decent. The barrel threading is the only real downer but you can get Ion threaded barrels cheaply and easily enough. Generally I don't much care for Smart Parts markers but I really liked everything about the SP1.

yep. I love my vibe. it's a solid beater marker that can take abuse. I only with it didn't use SP threads..
