Somebody told me this on PBN I'm not 100% sure this works well:

1. Disconnect macroline/steelbraided hose from fitting.
2. Unscrew Max-Flo
3. Wipe the threads with a peper towel.
4. Re-oil the O-ring I'm not sure if it has one.
5. Check for any paint debris/shells.
6. Screw in Max-Flo
7. Connect Hose

DONT use oil on any smart parts orings!

take off the max-flo

un-screw the adjusment knob all the way.(hold it straigh up and down) and sit all that comes off to the side

now you will see a brass piece inside the housing. remove it. make sure to take note of which way it comes out! you may need some needle nose pliers.
wipe off the brass piece and re-lube it with Dow 33(shocker lube)
re-install the brass piece

you will notice 2 set screws at the top of the reg. remove them, and then remove the part with the threads from the housing.

you will now see another brass piece(the top hat). now turn the housing upside down with your hand over the top to catch the internals. if they dont fall out smack it a couple of times again note how everything comes out. and lay it out in that order.

wipe off the brass piece and re-lube both orings

you will have a brass piece with a screen on it. remove the screen as careful as possible and blow it clean. if you can remove it just blow it clean the best you can.

when you put the screen back on place the seam of the screen between 2 of the 4 holes on the brass piece.

you will have a shaft with a small spring on it. remove the spring and add a small amount of lube on the shaft.

now put it back together the way it came out. heres how its stacked from top to bottom:

top hat(with one oring inside one around the bottom groove)
brass piece with the screen
spring on top of the shaft
shaft (with conical part pointing down)
washer (with conical part pointing up
small oring (if it came out of the housing.

hope this helps
