Building a PC

Alright im pretty new to the whole PC building thing, but I want to build my first one because my laptop cant be used for the new games that are coming out.

So i talked to some of my friends and they kind of tried to help me out but i figured id see what you guys thought of this stuff.

Case

Burner

CD/DVD Drive

RAM

ProcessorMobo

Video Card

Hard Drive

Sound Card

Now i know theres prolly stuff that ill need that i missed, or if none of this stuff will work together. It would be great if you could steer me in the right direction

Ok, as for the case, go with a lian-li. I have an Aspire(no that one though) and hate it. I has a buntch of special connections that after market PSU's dont have. Therefore when I want to upgrade(mine only has 300watt) I am going to have to run dual PSU.

Burner/cd drive: Looks good

Ram: good

CPU: If you want to save some cash, and know what you are doing, you could buy a socket 939 3000+ Venice and overclock the hell out of it. Many people have been getting 2.6 or 2.7 on the stock cooler, but that is a good CPU.

Mobo: good

Videocard: Go eVga. They allow aftermarkets coolers and such. Either that or BFG, or maybe XFX.

HDD: Maybe Western Digital, Heard some bad storys about maxtors, but many of them are good.

Sound card: dont really need it, most motherboard have good on board surround. IMHO the only soundcard worth buying is an Audigy 2ZS

Overall a pretty good system. Just a few corrections and it should be awesome.

What on earth are you talking about matrix? Are you trying to tell me that an X800 can beat a 7800GTX? No way. A 7800 will eat an X800 alive. And as for the lower end, cheaper cards, the GeForce's are faster. The 6600GT is faster than an X700. I have also had MUCH better luck with quality from Nvidia( I went XFX). My 9600XT wont even let my computer start up. I have RMA'd both my motherboard and 9600, to no avail.. And yet it works on my uncles computer. Dont get me wrong, ATI is good and all, but IMHO Nvidia definately has the edge, as long as you go with good, reliable companys.
