Seems sometime in mid 2006 Sony will release a new PSP with a hard drive. Sounds good to me. More info here.

why are they ditching the memory stick idea? i dont see the point. a hard drive is good though.

a harddrive would make it heavy, but hold alot more.. and plus, memory stick is expensive, and less than half of the digital world use it.

Who really cares about a harddrive. I have an Ipod so I don't need to use it for music, and it seems like it'd be too big for music. Internet is cool on it, and I play games. I don't need a harddrive. I have a lot of pictures on there and save files and I've only used 5 mb.

Why get rid of it? Easy, if you have a memory stick reader/writer on your computer you can get free pirated games.

Alpha, surely people will figure out how to do the same with the harddrives, look at modded xboxes.

xboxes are just PC's in a black box with a crappy OS. PSP's are handheld miniture devices . You'd have to create some sort of interface with the hard drive.

couldnt it be done through the usb or whatever you would use to put mp3s onto it?

on another note, i just clicked that link in the first post. I find it strange how xbox 360 leads everything right now. Concidering it got 2 awards at e3, for multi platform games, and didnt even have one nomination for most original game.

This time they should make it smaller. My friend had to have his roof taken off just to get it into his living room. It was a shame.

No thanks, I will stick to my 1 gig memory stick. The hard drive might be nice if you put a lot of movies on your psp, but I just keep a couple episodes of robot chicken, family guy, and futurama on there for when im bored. Otherwise I just use my portable dvd player to watch movies.

idk im not buying this. the psp already has horrible battery life and now their gunna put a hd in there. i say they fix the battery issue first before attempting to add more components

i actually haven't had a problem with battery life. 6 hours isn't too bad for me. I'm sure a third party will make a battery that lasts longer before the holidays. It would be a big hit.

Yah, ive never really needed to sit down for 6 hours straight and play. Even on road trips I just bring a car charger and hook it up when I am done.

oh six hours isnt that bad, thought it was around 4 maybe 5.
