Too slow
I have a dell 3.2 ghz w/ 1.0 gb of ram. Recently my comp has been running really slow. I look at the task manager under performance and it says its running CPU usage at like 85-100%, while i have no programs open except the quick launch tray and whatever. Ive run adaware, spybot s&d, and have AVG protecting my system. I can't see why it would be doing this but its really annoying, videos in WMP wont even play at normal frame rates. Any ideas or help? i have no clue what to do.

um........sounds like spyware or a virus that you just cant detect, unless, something is wrong with you ram, like if it overheated or somthin, take it to a specialist, or if you think it might be a hard to detect virus, reformat your HD

Defrag, disk clean up, and also, how much hard drive space do you have used/free?

Hmmm... Im gonna say try a defrag, and if that doenst help... Then.... i'd just save all your important stuff to another computer and reformat. I imagine they Dell sent you a restore CD, but I would get a fresh copy of XP instead of the dell restore cd, as that comes with all the dell bloatware.

im gonna reformat tomorrow, my buddy said hell put all my stuff on his drives, like music, pics, and papers.

Edit: Also have you tried hijack this?
Editx2: Another afterthough, anything that wasn't there before in startup programs? Or try a system restore.

Do you run Limewire, Kazaa, Bearshare, etc?
My friends computer SUCKED, literally sucked completely, he uninstalled and deleted Kazaa, the thing runs like a dream.
