my computer is soooooo screwed up. every time i turn it on it slows down and pop ups come and it turns it self off. i managed to get a virus scanner up and running and it said there were like 63 somthing problems (DAMN YOU LIMEWIRE!!!!!!!) i called microsoft and they said it was beyond repaireable from scanner and i need to do a system recovery/hard drive wipe. they didnt tell me how. anyone know how to do it?

this program gives your hard drive a low-level format. this means it's like buying a brand new hard drive fromt he store. I HIGHLY suggest you backup important files on a cd or another hard drive befroe using it.

take it from me cuz i learned it the hard way...make that the cd's u use to back up ur important files work....cuz i backed them all up but after i was done wiping my harddrive the CD's wouldnt read for some reason.

Actually...it probably is fixable. If you have virus and spyware scan programs....start up in safe mode and scan. In safe mode none of that crap starts up...so give it a try. Microsoft doesn't know crap.

what you need to do is get spybot search and destroy, adaware, and AVG Antivirus. they are all free, and can clean up your computer in no time.

microsoft isnt THAT retarded but its pretty dumb, anyways you should have an antivirus and a reformat is pretty apropriate after having a computer for like a year or two If you do want to reformat put in your windows xp cd boot from that, then follow the instructions! Delete partition > Install windows ( dont do the quick install) and have your windows key ready, its like a blue green sticker on your computer, or somewhere taped onto a cd cause if you dont have it dont reformat if not activated in 30 days itll iunno but its bad!
