oh boy..the story line
her it is in a nutshell cuz i lost the site that has the full description:
in the first game you(gordon freeman, hereby refered to as gordon) runs a test that goes bad and invited the world of xen (which is a middle place between the aliens and humans) the government tries to wipe out the entire science facility (named the Black mesa facility) the entire first game you're learning oll this slowly. at the end of the game you meet the final boss and when you kill it, everything blows up and goes black. then you mysteriously end up in a tram car flying through space with the gman(the guy at the start of HL 2 who is telling you to wake up and stuff) he offeres you to join him. if you accept, the game ends if you decline, you get ported to xen with no weapons and die.
between HL and HL2 there are years and years and years tht have gone by. the government has take over xen and learn how to use it to thier advantage. as you noticed it start out really shady. that's because the government is shipping peopel out of major cities and into government controlled cities. there was some war and a dude took over (it's a very long complex story..google HL2 and you'll proballl find something about it)

If we were talking about battlefield 2 or rainbow six or something like that, then i would agree. But games like hl2 can sometiems be better on console. as for the story line, i've played both hl1 (like half of it) and 2 and i never paid much attention to the story line.

i suppose the end on HL1 was mor story content thant he first half.
you wouldn't understand w/o finishing it. i still say it's one of the best FPs games ever even though it's now outdated
