My Xbox 360 + PS3 + Wii thread
My family recently aqquired an Xbox 360 as well as a Nintendo Wii for christmas, which is why I have not been on the forums in awhile. I have also played the PS3 quite a bit at my friends house and this is my analysis of the three next gen systems.
If you dont want to read all of this scroll to the bottom of the post where I ranked all three systems.
Xbox 360: This is the system I was most anxious to get, mostly for halo 3(I'm a halo fanboy), but I have found that the 360 has a lot more. Dead rising is a great game, along with Oblivion, Gears of war, call of duty 3, and many others. This alone I think puts the 360 a step ahead of the competition. Add on the amazing graphics and you have a great system. Xbox live is by far the best online service of the three systems, absolutely amazing.
One thing I do dislike is the size of the system, way to big. And the sound in incredible,I dont know if it is the intercooler or the system but when I am playing GoW(Gears of War) and I stop shooting and all I hear is a bunch of fans in the 360 it takes me out of the experience.
Over all a great system, good graphics and next gen game play as well as an affordable price. Plus the games, it has some great games with an even better line up on the way.
PS3: The PS3 is the one system I do not own for two reasons. 1. 600$ WTF????? Way to much money 2. I hate sony. So expect this review to be a little biased.
The PS3 is, in my own opinion, extremely ugly. I hate the shape. And the fact that it is bigger than the 360. The PS3 is technically superior to the 360 and Wii power wise, but where the PS3 falls short is the games. Sony is trying to justify the pricing with a Blu ray DVD drive. A disc format that may completely fail.
A console is only as good as its games. And while Resistance fall of man may be extremely addicting and fun, it is the only unique game on the PS3. And what are the upcoming exclusive games for the PS3? The PS3 does have a 60GB HD and built in Wi-fi, which is awesome, but it lacks in other areas.
The controller is wireless as with all other next gen systems but it lacks a rumble feature, which sucks. And then sony trys to throw in a motion sensing device to add a little something in the games. This has been implemented very badly in every game I have played for the system. It feels too......tacked on if you will.
Over all a solid system, but the ridiculous pricing and the lack of exclusive games will hold it back.
Wii: The nintendo wii is so different from the other two systems it should be defined as something different alltogether. Nintendo seems to have taken a different path towards the next generation of gaming. As seen with the DS nintendo is trying to revolutionize gaming.
Ninetendo seems to have strayed from Microsoft and Sony's path of putting as much power and graphics into a box as possible. The wii seems much more revolutionary. First off the design seems much more thought out and compact. The wii, instead of trying for the best graphics and power(only 50% better graphics than the xbox), has gone for gameplay.
I admit, I was skeptical at first, but after playing the wii I have changed my attitude. While playing I forget that the graphics are horrendous compared to the 360 and
PS3. I have too much fun. Every game I have played has implemented the risky motion sensing controller extremely well.
Over all the Wii is a great system with a revolutionary type of gameplay. Not to mention the best price of them all(250$) With great titles such as Zelda:Twilight princess, and more on the way it is hard not to go and grab a wii.
Out of all of the systems I rank them as such:
3.PS3; The lack of exclucsive games and excessive price will hold it back
2.Xbox 360; Great games with more on the way
1.Nintendo Wii; A revolutionary type of gameplay with an affordable price
That is my review of the next generation of gaming consoles. Not that anyone cares about the opinion of a teenage high school student.
