Slow nets... but fast speedtests.
So yeh that's way quicker than mine at home but mine downloads on utorrent and limewire are like 20-30 kbs... and sometimes even below 10kbs.
Wtf is up?
It's not just my computer it's all of my roommates. So I'm assuming some sort of firewall or something?
Anyway to bypass this sum*****?

Its only on torrents and limewire and ****.
I can download porn at 980 kb/s off of bang bros.... michaels went up to 9 meg downloaded a 100 meg file in like 10 seconds it was nuts.
So no doubt our speed is redonkulous.

if your computer has a personal firewall you may need to forward the ports that your utorrent program is using for TCP and UDP traffic. I had no speed issues w/ my universitys firewall after I had set up my own firewall.

ports are closed... Good luck getting campus IT to open them for you. I wanted to run a DMZ but they thought I was crazy. I told them viruses and hacker's don't affect me.

But if they were closed would it even let anything come through?

Yeah it would... Normally a bunch of ports supporting different protocols (80 for HTTP) are open.
If your running through a router (which I think you are), you gotta find the router's defualt ip addres, default username and password, log into the router's firmware and open up a specific port (use 11234 as example). Then you go into utorrent or whatever and set it to listen on port 11234.

Yeh... I think they've changed the routers default IP its not what the net is telling me it should be.
Anyway I could find it out?

NVM got it with ipconfig
10.0.0.1
But... when I go there its some page that says
"Reactivating Internet Connection
Your connection should now be reactivated.
You may need to close this browser and start a new one."
Which means they prolly have some sort of block on it knowing some smart ass would try to do what I'm doing... how do I get around this?

When you got that IP from ipconfig /all , is that the default gateway? Also theres a chance your computer could be set up with the wrong default gateway and it could still connect to the net
What I would do is go here: PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall
It was pretty useful for me when I was learning about port forwarding and has a big list of routers and passwords.
IF you want to reset the password on your router there should be a reset button somewhere on it

haha if only it were that easy bro...
You see I'm at an appartment complex... This router I'm trying to get to I dont know where is... sure if I could find it. I would totally reset it but you know I dont even know what it looks like the network is just called Linksys.
And I've already been to port forward...
I'm using network view to find all the routers see which one I'm connected to and see which one I need to get into.

I doubt its coming from one router... but I'll find out when Networkview is done.
And it's wireless and wired... my desktop is wired and my laptop is wireless.

haha... I didn't realize how long it would take network view to find all these routers and computers...
I mean I might have to leave her running for like 2 weeks before it's done. So thats looking like its not going to be my solution.
