When the first one came out, I was like: "Oh, well this is pretty cool I guess. You can drive things around and such. Oh cool you can fly planes!! Oh, I guess this isn't really flying planes, this is just a crappy attempt at making a plane. (Seriously planes suck in this game soooo much)." On top of that the AI was so incredibly stupid, I mean what's the point of having the commands at the top if the bots don't even listen to them at all? The combat sucked hard as well, and the battlefields IMO all sucked pretty hard, take Omaha Beach for instance. The beach is like 2 feet wide. There's only 3 bunkers, with only one incredibly crappy gun in each of them. Just nothing's realistic about this game it seems like. As you're driving in on the boats, you're not seeing shot splash around the water, or wiz by your head or anything. It's so incredibly easy to take the beach as the allies. In fact, the whole freaken battle always ends up taking place in the town part of the field, which is crappy.

And then Vietnam is out now, I'll admit the AI has improved a tad, although they still don't listen to commands. Combat has improved slightly, and helicopters are nice. But honestly, it does NOT feel like your actually fighting at all, the combat is still too weak. You always feel like you're playing a game, and just that. It's not like CoD where you almost feel like you're there. Vietnam was definitely a step up from 1942, but still not this amazing game that everyone says it is.

Of course both games are much better when played online, but still no feeling of pure action or anything, especially when they were selling the game using a main point as it supposing to be realistic. But I don't know what it is, it might just be me, but this doesn't feel realistic at all.

If I were to give a letter grade to each, I would probably give 1942 a C+, and vietnam a B. But not the like 100 %'s that a lot of magazines gave them. They just don't deserve that. I'm sorry.

Yeah I was disapointed with it. I don't like how you normally end up walking across the level, the sound effects suck, and game overall is historically innacruate. (Why is an American Engineer using a Lee Enfield?)

I would also give it a C+

I hope BattleField 2 will be better.

Well for 1 your not a gaming expert either am I. I have all the BF 1942 games except Vietnam which I am getting soon. I like them all for the most part. Ya it isnt the best game I ahve ever played but one of the best. And dude you cant compare COD and Bf 1942 because they are different gameplay. In COD it is a first person shooter and BF 1942 you can drive vehicles and such (also drive planes and ships). And for the realistic part you are completely wrong. WTF do you want to actually have them put a gun in your hands and go shoot people and if you knew anything about WW2 you would know they didnt use jets so the planes did suck! Well they used em at the end of the war and that is in SW.

first off, you have to consider the fact that bf came out years ago. Secondly, it was meant to be a online multiplayer game, not a singleplayer game, hence singleplayer mode sucks. i think bf is a great game that just has a lot of flaws.

and obviously vietnam is > bf because they were able to improve on any problems they had in bf

its a good game online, and as far as thew planes, if you download the DC mod the game is so awesome, i agree with the ai part, but in vietnam i actually did get people to follow my commands

Vietnam is much better than 1942, but it makes my computer lag a lot in mp unless i put it on low settings. 1942 ran fine on the highest. The AI is way better, if you request a pickup etc they actually stop for you, its kind of nice. Choppers rule. I dont like that you have to shoot someone twice in the head with a sniper rifle to die, or about 20 times in the torso, I like the tom clancy games for realism, but nowadays kids just like to play more like arcade style, fast, non-realisitc stuff. so it sells. Anyway, those are my thoughts, goodnight.

ya...BF was a great game when it first came out...but now its getitng old...

HOWEVER if you want a GREAT mod...get Desert Combat... www.desertcombat.com

im not joking...this mod is better then the game itself, and it is profetionally done...its so sweet.

I hate vietnam...its terrible IMO...the jets are pointless...the helis doing even fly correctly...the game was meant for noobs...while DC puts the realistic flight physics in there.

For example...the helis actually behave like they should (yes it makes them harder to fly/hover...but once you get used to it, its awsome). Its just 20 times better IMO...vietnam is just unbalanced...DC does a great job of balancing everything out.

omg...ur missing soo much lol...

so many aircraft added...Im talkin about harriers...little birds (small helis in Blackhawk down) with 2 differnt load outs...Chain guns wit rockets...or transport, different variations of blackhawks...Super Statlion (HUGE heli)...and kick ass..i mean KICK ASS maps...

seriously...they did so much more...u should buy a new bf1942...they are probbaly like $20 now

ya i got it yesterday, hmm only thing is i dont have the M82 sniper rifles, they arent in the spawn spots they should be tis weird!

Yah DC came out before vietnam and it's still better! I loved DC it's the only reason I keep BF installed. I like how the rocket launchers actually launch the rockets, rather than like shooting them out 12 feet.

haha yea AA is fun ive been playing the all weapons servers, those are fun so hard to live through the whole thing cuase bunch of people use rpgs i love my m82 tho
