second step to polishing internals?
I used a sos brillo pad on the internals of my 98 custom, to clean out all of the excess anodizing. i was wondering if that was all that i had to do, because i have heard of people adding a coat of something if they didnt use sand paper.

ok thanks, cause my bro has a newer 98 custom, and everything inside has a much tighter fit to it, and his gun shoots quite well. he did not polish anything*

I sanded mine.
started with 300 and finished it off with some 600 (maybe 800?).
The velocity actually increased 35fps

a good rule of tumb for that is if the welt (the ring in it) is bigger then a paintball or the skin is broken then your more then likely shooting over 300. I would recomend getting a little pocket crono cause they don;t cost that much.
also if you find that the polish is starting to go bad touch it up some with a little steel wool

as far as velocity goes, we raise it til the accuracy starts to fall off, the rest is fair game. if i do get a chrono, what brands would you suggest?

just get one off of a website or at your local shop jesus guys someones gonna get hurt (this is my responsible side) on the other hand if you want to jus go down to your nearest shop and have them chrono and leave them alone then you will be in the ballpark of three hundred anyways BTW keep it under 300 if you can, even the mask companies recomend that

Just because some people maintaina ccuracy at more than 300FPS doe snot mean its alright to shoot that fast. You can crack lenses and/or injure your mark, break their hopper or finger... just don't.
300FPS is great for distance. You shouldn't go beyond that.

we play in the woods of one of my friends relatives back yards, i dunno if you would call it renegade or not, but it isnt tresspassing or anything like that. if one of us gets a chrono the rest will prolly pitch in a little to use it. i see what your saying about the danger factor, but again, we really have no way to determine the actual fps. my 98 usually has the velocity screw halfway in/out. but i dont know what everybody else plays with.

After my polish job, DOP powertube, Maddmann spring kit, double trigger, K-C synthetic oil on top of Tetra gun grease, and using either my Lapco BigShot12" or SmartParts Progressive14", I chrono'd out at 357 fps. That was with the adjust screw 2 1/2 turns out from bottom-out. Now its legal at 285ish with the screw 1/2 turn out. (The slicker the movement the less exertion)
