You might not notice a change in performance unless you are really looking for it.

If its on sale or something and you really want it, go ahead. I'm not saying to not get it. I'm only saying that the difference won't be like night and day.

The stock bolts are pretty good for the 98 and A-5. Buying any aftermarket bolt will give a very minimal change at best.

The only real "improvement" they can make from the stock bolt is to add an o-ring on the inside and possibly one on the back part of the outside. This would just seal the bolt better, not making a huge difference.

The stock one is already derlin and it's as light as you want. A new one that it lighter woun't be felt, and it's a blow back so I don't think a soft face one (like I could get for my angel) is avaliable.

I have a shocktech one, only because it was the only stock part in the gun I was building and well...why not go all or nothing?

It's barely different in design from the stock one.

There was a comparison of A5 bolts done, I think on some a5owners group. The bolts are nearly the same to a 98 and if you can find it it'll show how small the differences really were.

The moral of the story is there are bigger and better upgrades to be had first.

No, the E-98 That I half built and then lost the parts I needed to finish it in the mail.

I know this is an old thread, but I just got Rufus Dawg's "Level 1 Upgrade Kit" for my 98 Custom. It's a wicked bolt w/ new power tube, and a double trigger. the trigger sems nice, but the slots cut in the power tube are SLIGHTLY out of alignment. I installed it, and couldn't cock it because the "x" on the bolt didn't quite line up with the notches on the power tube. (A little modification, and it works fine.) I just think it sucks that you buy a pard that needs work in order to operate as advertised. I can't really "feel" the difference, and I don't have scientific equipment in order to measure the difference.

if you need scientific instruments to find the difference im going to go out on a limb here and say that you probably could have spent that money better elsewhere

low end markers rarely benefit from aftermarket parts in this day and age, the stock parts have gotten far better than what used to come on a marker
