Welcome to PBF! You picked a weird time to come, recent events have pretty much thrown things outta wack. Give a little more time and we'll be up and running again in no time.
Great choice for your first marker. Pretty soon we'll have our upgrade thread back and that should help you out a lot. Any questions about Tippmanns though feel free to ask. There are a good number of guys in here that can help you out. TippmannFronter, Flatliner, and Dhill are all pretty good. That's not to say there are others that aren't equally as good!
Braka, we have a no advertising rule for other forums in affect here. I know you meant good, but in the future it's better to PM someone with a link to another forum. Don't worry about it this time though. I've copied it and PM'd him the link. You had good intensions though!

I love my 98C. I just played today (speedball) and as long as the person behind it is skilled, so is the gun. I held more than my own against Spyers, Angels, and a Shocker, too. Mostly the player behind my gun...hehe. Have fun, and you will love paintball.

i dont really understand speedball, i mean i guess paintball is paintball but it seems to flashy, i like the woods where you can sneak around and set mines and dig foxholes, its fun, and more realistic

Same here, but i play speedball once and awhile. Woods is way more fun but speedball is ok for a change. I play like woods all day then go to the speedball field for a few games. Speedball = more of a waste of paint. You just shoot paint as fast as you can and hope you hit something. Woods is way more fun

speedball is still fun but woodsball is the way that paintball is meant to be played.

Don't get a 98. get a Spyder xtra because...
-it's cheaper by around 60$
-comes with a better barrel, trust me I compared with my cousin who has a 98
-looks cooler
-contrary to popular belief, it doesn't chop balls
-with that extra 60 bucks you can buy a new barrel or an electric hopper

Good choice with the tippy and welcome to paintball! The 98c is a beutiful starter gun, as soon as you assemble it you will love it. It was my first gun and still is my favorite gun. It will never let you down. Only upgrade it really needs is a new barrel, just get a 12'' jj ceramic barel for less than 50 bucks and you've got an awesome starter marker... good luck!

I love my 98c. Hate the stock barrel though. After getting a new barrel it shoots great.

a good day of paintball is a good day, whether it is spent playing speedball or woodsball
also on your 98c.. if you feel up to it, take it apart and wipe off the extra lube tippman puts in.

paintball was ment for woods play =) It was done to simulate war. The old tournaments were played in the woods, no throw paint as fast as you can =/ But play what ever floats your boat.

The stock barrel is not really a great barrel. The 98C is a good gun, but a better barrel will improve the guns accuracy and noise level.
I always recommend the Lapco Bigshot barrel to my friends when they get a 98 C as that barrel is both accurate, more efficient on air, and a bit quieter than the stock barrel... oh plus its priced nicely. I would recommend you look into getting a new barrel as it will make a nice difference in how the gun shoots.
